The pattern shows wee eyes on the peacock, however, the finished block photos do not.  What are y’all doing re. the eyes?

Using the same color crystals or?? I assume you're planning on using the
fusible ones? Do you have a good site to buy them? I was considering this as
well.

I have some lovely blue green iridescent beads in two sizes, and when I'm all
done with the blocks I'll do the larger for the center and the regular seed bead
size for the small blocks. Since I'm planning this for a wall hanging that
won't be washed often, I feel okay about beads.

Candace, I get my hotfix crystals (Swarovski) from

The seed beads sound like a great idea, too.

I haven't seen any new posts for a couple of days, so thought I'd drop a line
and see how everyone is doing? I know with the holiday, many are taking the
time to travel and just take in some R&R. I started my block today, it's almost
3am, I haven't been able to put it down. Guess I should go see about getting
some sleep, the rest of the house will be in in the next 4 hours.
Hope all are enjoying the 4th of July weekend.

Somewhere in all the blogs, Erin states that they will finish up at 14".  So I have trimmed mine down to 14 1/2".  Have not trimmed down my center for Tweets yet.  Florabunda blocks were 12" finished, I have forgotten what the center was.

And good luck on doing QAYG.  I never could master that and my first books were all Georgie Bonesteel, who teaches that method.  I now have a longarm that I do my quilting with.

Don't know yet.  It will depend on the sashing style that you chose.  Erin gives two examples but no pattern or instructions available yet.

My Florabunda ended up being 74" square with the 12" finished blocks and sawtooth sashings.

Mine is hanging on a wall.  I do not plan to ever put it on a bed.  When I'm gone....well I'll let my family deal with what happens to it.  But I have a granddaughter named Hannah, so she will probably get 'Florabunda'.

I hope everyone enjoyed their extra day off (if you work)and had lot of fun with
friends and or family.

The temp here was well over 100 degrees so needless to say I spent the entire
weekend inside as much as possible.....But I did accomplish something. My first
block, block 6 is finished and I've posted a picture in my album. I'm just
learning to applique, basically self taught from on line instructions and Erin's
blog with her tutorials. I had my issues, but for the most part I'm happy with
the outcome of this first block. This week, I will go back and start getting
block 5 ready to stitch. Takes me awhile to trace everything and then pull
fabric, but I will catch up with all of you.

Have a great of whats left of the 4th!

Rae for a beginner....I think you've got it!!  Wonderful job and beautiful block.  I've been canning beans all day and starting to clean house for a family reunion later this month.  Don't know when I will get to start on 6.  At first it seems like it takes forever to do all the prep work, but after you have done a few blocks it gets easier and you will get faster.

We had a quiet 4th and I spent a lot of time appliqueing blocks 1 through 3.
Block four is ready to stitch down. My little birds don't have beaks or head
knots yet but I was too tired to work on those little buggers! Photos are
uploaded in my Bonnie's album. I'm slowly catching up! Yay!!!

We had a quiet 4th and I spent a lot of time appliqueing blocks 1 through 3. Block four is ready to stitch down. My little birds don't have beaks or head knots yet but I was too tired to work on those little buggers! Photos are uploaded in my Bonnie's album. I'm slowly catching up! Yay!!!

I started my block today, it's almost 3am, I haven't been able to put it down. Guess I should go see about getting some sleep, the rest of the house will be in in the next 4 hours.
