Description

To develop a practical understanding of what an equalitarian society would be, and to produce an agenda for creating an equalitarian society.

Here, it would be useful to distinguish between eGALitarian and eQUALitarian: EGALITARIAN - A person who demands political enforcement of equal results regardless of individual effort or ability; EQUALITARIAN - A person who supports equal rights and responsibilities.

Participation requires a well developed understanding of the fundamental issues. Hence, this group is not for complaining about stereotypes, hand wringing over the injustice of the week, or learning what those fundamental issues are. There are other groups for that, including: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/backlash/

This group is the next step in the evolution of The Backlash! which is published at http://www.backlash.com. The Backlash! was founded in 1992 by the Gang of Six in Seattle, and at that time we laid out a plan of action to first address anti-male sexism and then begin work toward an equalitarian society. Although I expect to maintain backlash.com indefinitely, gradually emphasis will shift to equalitarian.net. However, don't look for anything at equalitarian.net, yet.

Membership to this group is open, but nay sayers, jerks and spammers will be banned, and any disrespect toward other members will not be tolerated. It's okay to have a sense of humor, it's okay to get upset, but it's not okay to disrespect other members.

Religious views are perfectly acceptable as long as they are in context. But this isn't a pulpit.

This is a forum for sharing thoughts on what an equalitarian landscape would look like, and what civil engineering measures it will take to create that landscape. Hence, using current events to springboard discussions of that nature is probably not only helpful, but welcome.
