The charity "Education Otherwise" is a UK-based membership organisation which provides support and information for families whose children are being educated outside school, and for those who wish to uphold the freedom of families to take responsibility for the education of their children.

This email list is provided by Education Otherwise for the benefit of home educators and is primarily an informal support list, open to both EO members and non-members, and offering a virtual meeting point for those who are home educating or considering home educating anywhere in the UK.

This list is not open to LA personnel or students doing research on Home Education. Students doing HE research should email a link to their questionnaires and a brief outline of what they require to eo-owner@yahoogroups.com who will then post the information to the list on their behalf.

The comments on this list represent the views of the subscribers alone, and although it can be very helpful to hear the views and experiences of list members, the Trustees of Education Otherwise recommend that subscribers do not treat this is as a substitute for professional advice.

EO also has a website: www.education-otherwise.org including a members only section with members forums for parents to exchange information and support and also 3 children's boards where children can chat and make friends. EO runs a Helpline and has a team of volunteers. Members receive bi-monthly newsletters, a contact list, large discounts on LearnPremium (an online curriculum resource), and many other benefits.
