Many of you many know Napoleon Trujillo from the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. After 27 years as the head of the
Genealogical Dept, Napo has resigned to take up full time Political
study at Uni. We'll miss him as he was very good in charge of
genealogy

THIS WAS SENT DIRECT TO ME FOR LIST. PLEASE CORRESPOND EITHER THROUGH LIST OR
DIRECT TO GEOFF. Thanks

I am researching the ELLETT family who's earliest records I have
researched
from Chardstock, Devon. I am very keen to contact others who's
families came
from that area in the hope that we will discover common ancestors. My
earliest "dead cert" is Thomas b abt 1764 who married Hannah Palmer
1786. I
have yet to find a birth record for either of them but I am reasonably
confidant that Thomas' father was Thomas who married Ann Goodland in
1756
and that this Thomas is the son (b 1733 at Wambrook) of John & Mary
Ellott.
There appears to have been a few variations on surname spelling but a
common
thread is that I have 4 generations of blacksmith from 1756 to 1829.
I have
comprehensive transcriptions & tree available.
Geoff Ellett, nz

Dear List,
I am looking for the parents of ELIZA ANN FLENLEY and JOHN GRIFFITHS who married
in 1850 in Bethnal Green, London and sailed to Australia in the years between
then and 1854. They never mention their parents on any certificates. I have yet

parents' names will be found on this.

Dear All

Welcome to my super-fast instant ancestry programme! I am proud to
announce
the launch of an exciting new service for wannabe family historians who
find research the old-fashioned way rather boring.

You, too, can have a family tree back to Adam and Eve ENTIRELY from the
Internet!!!

Here is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime, never-to-be repeated offer.....

SEND me 10,000 dollars, your date of birth, your chest and inside leg
measurements, the location of the pub where your granny met your grandad

and the name of that milkman with the hairy nose that your Auntie Maude
had the wild affair with - and I guarantee I will have your family tree
at
least back to Nebuchadnezzar the Daft of Outer Mongolia before you can
say
"IGI" !!!

NO more listening to boring old farts droning on how about how you need
to read a book on family history. Books - outdated, who needs 'em?

NO more need to visit dreary old Record Offices or waste your precious
time
looking at boring bits of paper covered in squiggly writing that you
can't understand anyway.

NO more need to listen to self-appointed, so-called experts who try to
tell
you they can help you just because they've been in genealogy since March

1897 and who will try and persuade you to join a family history society
where you will meet hordes of equally boring people who also think they
know it all.

I absolutely guarantee you a family tree you can be proud of, that will
show your descent from such famous historical figures as Mary Queen of
Scots, Oliver Cromwell, Sir Francis Drake, William the Conqueror,
Charlemagne, the Norse god Woden, Charles II's head coachman's
illegitimate
son, a 4th cousin twice removed of Henry VIII, Cyril the Incontinent
of Babylon, Frederick the Flatulent of the Austro-Hungarian Empire,
Baron
Frankenstein, Joan Collins and the Man in the Off-Licence Round the
Corner.

How do I do it? Simple - I log onto the Internet, spend half an hour or
so, trawling the world wide web and - Bingo! - there is your Instant
Family Tree! Here's how it works...

First, I find the marriage of your great-granny on the IGI, then I
find someone of the same name who was born in a parish 100 miles away
from
where she was married, so that's bound to be her, isn't it?

Then I ring up this mate of mine who specialises in doing look-ups from
the
1861 census in places like London, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, Manchester

and Glasgow.

He sticks a pin in anywhere on the census and gives me a couple more
names to work with. I reckon they have as much chance as being your
gt-gt-grandparents as anyone else, so it's back to the Net. I feed the
names into umpteen databases and websites until I come up with someone
of the same name who claims to be descended from Edward III. Ah, yes,
this looks as good a bet as any.
Nobody is going to notice if I casually slip your gt-gt-grandad and
granny into
a GEDCOM that shows they were also descended from Alfred the Great and
the monk who did the slopping-out at Whitby Abbey, are they?

So there you have it - a wonderful, Instant Family Tree, and all from
the Internet.
And what I don't find I simply MAKE UP!!!
What could be easier?

Apply now for the bargain of all time and discover how to make Internet
genealogy really work for you!

I have much information on Martha Elizabeth ROSE after she married
in Auckland, New Zealand in 1848.
What I want to find is her family before she arrived here from England !!!
(it looks likely she came to New Zealand alone, I hope she was using the name
Martha ROSE at that time, as family history says she was a 'camp follower')
What I am looking for now is:

1/ Families in England between 1820-1845 who contain a Martha ROSE.
(especially about 1824 in Kent, her birth recorded on death cert.)

2/ Any Martha ROSE on any ship to New Zealand (or Van Deimans Land, Austlalia,
where the British 58th Regiment came to N.Z. form) between 1840 and 1848.

3/ Any records of a Martha ROSE in New Zealand prior to 1848.

Hello Leone,

I checked the 1881 census for the name of FLENLEY....found ten
entries....three households. I feel sure they would be connected to your
Eliza Ann FLENLEY. If you haven't already seen these entries I will gladly
send them to you.

best wishes,

My Hemmant family trees have the Boyce family mentioned. They lived in the Fens
and our family were farmers in the 1700s and early 1800s. William Hemmant
(1768-1835) married Mary Boyce and their off-spring show Boyce as their second
name.
I have been trying to trace the roots of John Boyce Hemmant who was born in
Peoria and died in L.A in 1950. I believe his father was Alfred and suspect that

it was James Boyce Hemmant who emigrated to the USA in the early 1800s -
but I cannot prive it.
The families in the Fens had close ties and many were Huguenots who settled
there
to escape persecution in Europe.
Do you have any info to share with me?
John

Dear Paul and Amanda

My Chadwick's and Rose's came from Dapto, and around the Lismore and coastal
area. I have quite a lot of information and photos of these. Our Chadwick,
was Thomas and Caroline from England, then Frederick Walter, born Dover,
England who came out and married Annastasia Carroll Rose from Dapto NSW. My
grandmother was a Chadwick. She was my fathers mother.
If you find that you have these relations in your family, then, we can swap
some info'.

I dont know if any of you have had the chance to look at this new CD yet
but I have been enjoying it immensely. Although nothing on my Somerset
area (nor much for Devon and Cornwall either, I do have some good
results back from Wilts Berks and Oxford.
It does not contain cemetery headstoe transcriptions just the burial
entries, but nevertheless I give it my stamp of approval!!
The number of burial entries included in the NBI per county, rounded to
the nearest 1000, are:

           Bedfordshire 52000
           Berkshire 51000
           Buckinghamshire 81000
           Cambridgeshire 97000
           Cardiganshire 6000
           Cheshire 25000
           Derbyshire 29000
           Dorset 1000

Have you tried out the new IGI addendum yet? Of course if you are on the
net you are probably using the on line up todate version anyway.
Personally, I still prefer the CDs to the Net version as you see more
when the results come up.
Anyway,... try it out there are now 31 CDs instead of 17

Hi, Derek,
I have a Murray branch in my tree. Robert Murray married Annie Chedle in
Brisbane in 1866 but he was born 14 Apr 1841 in Pinelanty, Barr by Girvan,
Ayrshire, Scotland. His father was Archibald Murray and mother Margaret
Bone. Could he be one of yours? Robert's children were born around Sydney
and were Margaret, Archibald, John, Robert Charles, William, Gilbert, Jane,
Elizabeth.
