I was just curious to know if anyone from the Orange Park area needed to carpool to the retreat tomorrow?  I have decided to drive my car to the campsite, but I'm not sure if I will be going to Assumption Church for the meet-up or just heading straight to High Springs.  If anyone needs a ride, let me know.  Maybe we could work something out.  See you tomorrow!  God bless.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I apologize for the late notice, but I would like to invite you all to my house for the Luminaria this Sunday, December 20 at 5:30 in the evening.

As you may or may not know, the Riverside-Avondale area has an annual Christmas Luminaria, where the streets in the whole neighborhood will be lined with paper lantern luminaries, which is quite a sight!  Also, the local businesses, churches, and even private homes in the neighborhood put on concerts, movies, etc.  One church will even have a live nativity.  It is a very festive atmosphere!

So, I invite you to come and enjoy an evening of friendship and fellowship at Casa de Joe & Roberto.  And, yes, we will be having hayrides through the neighborhood!  There will be some food and beverages, but if you would like to bring a dish, dessert, or beverage to share, that would be great!

As a word of caution, parking is very limited, as people are discouraged from parking on the street (blocking the luminaries).  So, you may want to consider carpooling.  Also, the traffic in the neighborhood tends to get very congested as the evening progresses.

If you have any questions, please call me at (904)307-3257. My house is at 3649 Pine Street, on the corner of Pine & Dancy Streets.  If you aren't sure how to get to my there, Google Maps can give you directions HERE.  I hope to see you all there!

Hello dear friends!

This Thursday for Emmaus, we will be meeting at Assumption Catholic Church at 7PM to have Adoration and Confession with the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Renewal, the Sisters of Life and the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother - all of whom will be fasciliatating this year's (annual) young adult retreat, "Saved in Hope."  Whether you are able to go on the retreat or not, this will be an excellent time to worship and adore our Lord and learn from some AWESOME religious.  In fact, this is a perfect time to invite someone you have been meaning to ask to come to Emmaus.  Maybe you had someone on your heart that you wanted to invite to the retreat, but it just didn't work out this year ...invite them to come on Thursday for this "micro-retreat."  Before we know it, Advent will be over and Christmas will be here.  Will you be ready?  We are truly SO blessed to have so many religious who want to help us get to heaven!  with love and joy,

As we anticipate and reflect this Advent and Christmas upon the outrageousness of GOD stooping to become one of us, the Creator of all becoming a humble child because of His great love for you and me, let us come, and quietly adore Him anew with Mary and Joseph as on that very first Christmas.

In Bethlehem, meaning “House of Bread,” was born our Savior, placed in a manger, a place of food.  This Advent/Christmas season, may the Living Bread come down from heaven, nourish you, body and soul.

As some of you know from the Emmaus meetings my mom was recently diagnosed with
lymphoma cancer i.e. diffused large b-cell lymphoma. The cancer is throughout
her body and so is considered advanced. She will begin chemo this Thursday,
feast of St. Lazarus, so please pray for her healing and speedy recovery. She
will be doing chemo for 5 months. Also pray for me as I bear a new cross. Pray
for peace in our hearts.

Please pray right now! Many times we get pray requests and don't pray as we
should for the people. I am just as guilty of this. This is why I am asking you
to be quick on the draw and pray now. Remember to keep her inyour prayer and ask
other to pray for her as well.

If you can remember to offer her up in your masses and especially this Thursday
with the Franciscan friars and on the retreat weekend it would be much
appreciated.

One thing I have realized in my life is that I don't pray enough so I am
encouraging you during this penitential season to offer prayer and sacrafices
for all those who need help every moment of your life.

I know with the help of your prayers, St. Padre Pio, St. Peregrine, and Our Lady
God will hear us and save us from all harm.

Christ be with you all and I will see you two weeks from now.

If you want to send my mom a card please let me know and i will send you her
address.

Hi all,

With this work schedule, its tough to do anything. I really want to hang out though, and my days off are Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately, Im not going to be able to make the Emmaus Christmas Party or the retreat this year, and I know with Christmas everyone is going to be very busy. I am going to try to make the New Years Eve party at Ryan's, but that is no guarantee. So after New Years, I would like to organize a group on Wednesday, January 7th to go out for dinner and maybe catch a movie or do bowling.

Good news is we will probably be having a shift bid in February or around there, and a better shift should be coming for me soon.

I just ask everyone for their prayers.sssssssss

Hello everyone,

This Friday and Saturday, Dec 11th & 12th, from 6-8:30pm each night, Ponte Vedra
Presbyterian Church is having their annual event, "A Bethlehem Visit". The
congregation recreates the city of Bethlehem in the wooded area behind their
church, complete with Roman Centurions on horseback, walls around the city,
merchants selling their wares, goats, sheep, camels, beggars, and after exiting
the city there is a huge bonfire and they provide cookies and hot chocolate.
There is no charge to get in, but they do accept donations. I've been several
times, and it gets better every time I go. If you plan on going, you need to
park in the TPC parking area in Sawgrass, and then you will be bused over to the
church. I will be meeting up with some friends of mine at the event on Friday
the 11th between 6 and 6:30pm. If anyone who is planning on going would like to
meet up with me there, you can give me a call at 477-2908. Below is a link to
the church's website for more info.

The video is towards the bottom of the blog.

Hello everyone!

The Pillars of Joy would like to thank all of you who came out to the Assumption evening of reflection Saturday. We hope you got a lot out of it, and The Pillars certainly did. Thank you for your continued support always, and always helping us disband the music equipment. Also, thank you for your monetary donations toward the fees associated with the Dec. 26 St. Augustine gazebo concert - we did raise the $175 we were shooting for! By your generosity, you are supporting proclaiming Jesus Christ in the town square, literally, and helping fulfill our mission to be a sign of contradiction to the world. Hallelujah, doesn't it feel good to be on Jesus' side!

The Pillars will be on the Friday Live Show this Friday, Dec. 11, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. So, if you get a chance, it would be great if you would call into the show and say a few words. We will be interviewed about how The Pillars of Joy got started (through Emmaus to a great extent), the songs on the Miles to Go album and future Pillars endeavors, particularly a new album in the infancy stages. We will also put a plug in for the upcoming young adult retreat and Emmaus. I'm told there are probably about 5,000-7,000 listeners during the Friday Live Show. The on-air call-in number is (904) 241-9497, per the attached link to WQOP. Hope to hear from you!

God bless,
Bart

This event is always very well attended by Emmaus (and many other people from around the state).  It has been getting bigger every year - so mark your calendars!  This is a peaceful march (similiar to the ones held in DC and San Francisco) on the anniversary of the horrible Roe V. St. Philomena!

Some of us may have heard her name invoked in prayer at Emmaus, but perhaps weren't all that sure who she is.  Well, her life has a powerful message for our culture today - as a young virgin, she was martyred for her purity and fidelity to Christ.  For those who have already given me $$, I will have them to pass out at Emmaus.  There are still 2 more cds available (I ordered the extras to get the cheaper rate).  You can either give me $2 for this cd, or $20 for the next ten months.

Have a blessed Advent everyone - don't miss it - let's spend as much time preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ as we do our houses and the gifts under the tree.  This is where I need to make sure I take my own advice!

with love in our humble Lord,

Greetings everyone,

Start this Advent season off on the right note!!! On Saturday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m. Assumption Catholic Church will be hosting a very special evening of meditation and reflection on Advent. There will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament along with melodious music, and meditations from Bart Price and The Pillars of Joy. The Pillars will be playing all new songs so come out and enjoy. Please join us for this wonderful evening. http://www.myspace.com/bartprice

The Pillars of Joy need your help. This will be the first time doing this at that parish. This will be a test for our community particularly the young adults in the community. You see Fr Fred has been gracious enough to open up his parish for the evening, and there is doubt that people
would show up for something like this at this time of year.

I have communicated with Deacon John at Assumption and I assured him that our community enjoys such evenings and that it should be well attended. If it goes well this could open the doors for other similar events to take place not only at assumption but other churches in our
diocese.

Besides JESUS will be in the house, I mean church!!

Please spread the word.
Peace and blessings
Sean

He used to be part of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate. This religious order has a special devotion to our Lady. Sean will touch on topics such as Mary as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix, and Advocate as well as go over some important insights into Mary's role in the Nativity story. Be sure to come out and enjoy the discussion.

On a side note: Emmaus got its start at Sean's house which is also the house we are having the Christmas Party at on the 12th. RSVP on the Evite I sent.

Since Sean is unpacking in his new place, I will host movie night this week at my place at 7:30 pm. We will watch "The Agony and the Ecstacy" - a movie about Michelangelo's struggle surrounding the painting of the Sistene Chapel. It's a good movie. Please give me a quick reply to let me know if you are coming so I'll know how much pizza to order. :)

Directions to my place are:

Take I-95 to International Golf Parkway, at the end of the exit ramp, make a right, go past the traffic light and drive about 1/2 mile. I live at The Legends condos on the right of the road. When you pull up to the gate box, scroll to my last name "Price" and give me a ring. I will open the gate for you and direct you in.

In Christ,
