Description

This group is for those interested in exploring the history of the Irish septs who occupied the territory referred to as Ely Carroll--including O'Carroll, O'Flanagan, MacCorcoran, O'Heagan, O'Meagher and O'Hailchen. Our primary aim is to synthesize, as objectively as possible, documentary history with data arising from DNA studies. The most significant marker identifying Ely Carroll DNA is DYS492 = 11. (This is not the place to discuss or argue over who is the rightful modern chief of any O'Carroll lines.)

Please try to remember to clip the relevant portions of messages when you post a reply, so those receiving in digest mode won't have to scroll excessively through old thread messages. Also, it helps to change the subject line if a thread veers in a new direction. Thanks, and have fun!

Re: Ancient Territory of Ely Larger than Ely O'Carroll
Thanks Adrian, for some reason I just never got that before, and that the O Carrolls had held sway over much or all of it, or is Betham mistaken on that part?
