Let me start the ball rolling... David, I assume it was you who
created the various bits of Sindarin dialogue in the films that have
been cited so far (as I understand it, Bill did little of this sort
of invention). So, I'd like to ask you to give some account of the
frequent use of _aen_ in these sentences, and the evidence you see
backing this usage up. (And no, I know of nothing that Tolkien wrote
pertaining to this matter in the unpublished manuscripts.)
The usage seems at variance with what I'd proposed for it long ago in
my analysis of _The King's Letter_, but as that proposal was chiefly
driven by what I saw as a possible parallel between the future-tense
constructions _estathar aen_ and _Nai hiruvalye_, I'm certainly not
wedded to it. I am however genuinely curious to know your thoughts on
the matter.
