East Isthmus Neighborhoods Planning Council is a coalition aimed at strengthening the near east side of Madison by supporting neighborhood-based organizations and facilitating community-driven planning and action.

In 2006 EINPC representatives and staff led a community-wide organizing effort to identify major concerns on the east side, culminating in a successful community forum. One of the issues identified through this grassroots effort was concern about drinking water.
Eken Park neighborhood resident Satya Rhodes-Conway and EINPC staff Lilly Irvin-Vitela and Pam Hathaway brought together residents from each neighborhood association to meet with Water Utility and City officials at a large public meeting (130 attended), at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, on November 27, 2006 - "Drinking Water Quality, Public Health and Well #3 - A Neighborhood Meeting."
Because of concerns expressed at the November 27 meeting, and afterwards, EINPC formed a Drinking Water Work Group to continue to follow this issue.
