Description



Never look at your partner's feet:

  • Use vision to avoid collision with other dancers.
  • Dancing figures at your level would not require vision.
  • Communicate through the hold, not by staring at feet.
  • Use the music for synchronization. Syncing otherwise (with foot reaction) is repulsive to watch; dancers look like wind-up toys.
  • Watch Copes.


Travel and Tango:

  • Even though it is inextricably linked to its argentine roots, tango is an international dance.
  • Travel to a tango festival to see how the world dances tango.
  • Milonguero style is the norm at milongas in all the far reaches of the civilized world.
  • Open-embrace tango is strictly a performance style. It is crude to occupy more than one's fair share of a busy dance floor by taking long steps.
