Hello my dears,
a message from the rainy south...
Can I just say that - though clear and to the point - I find tango escocia
just a tiny little bit boring... I'm sure you don't want to hear this as a
consensus was just emerging... Monica in her very first email had suggested
MacTango, that kinda says the same thing and (while not radically innovative
or hilarious) sounds a bit more zesty to me...
Anyway.
Hope you're all well,
Susanne

Tango Escocia came to my mind first of all, it gets to the point, but
we could do something a little more fun....
I would like it to cover Scotland, and neighbouring areas, so we can
help build a wider community, as Glasgow looks like building up now.
Todotango is the name of a tango school/company in London.
I just got an e-mail from Dublin, saying they are very keen to come
over in a group for the Biki and Muso workshop and the Ball on the
25th Nov. However they are not sure they ave the time and energy to
organising a weekend for us to go there before christmas.

Could probably get similar deals to Paris.... more tango, but less
guiness. I am in Nijmegen and going to El Corte tonight. I am excited
as it's my first time.
By teh way, what's the biggest city in Ireland?

Hello peeps,
I was passing a (dodgy :-)) travel agent yesterday and noted he was
selling City Breaks to Dublin very reasonably... the deal...
3 people for 2 nights (2 or 3 star hotel) including Air Fungus
flights between Edinburgh & Dublin for £183.
Sounds affordable to me... SOoooo who's for Dublin then, and when do
you fancy going.
Answers please to this group, and any questions, suggestions of course.

So far we have Eric in Jan, maybe Bennie for Loch Tay, and probably
Biki and Muso in May/June.
What we have is
remember what we said about the workshops being on the last weekend
of every month (with the possible exception of Eric)
Jan Eric
February 24/25
March 31/1 Bennie
April 28/29
May 26/27 Biki / Muzo
June 30/1
July 28/29
then there's the festival....

Carole
For distributing leaflets with EAE they charge £25 plus vat for 1000
leaflets, for as long as they are valid and they have some left.
1000 leaflets covers 30 sites, plus 15 top ups
they have a number of themed runs, with 15-20 sites in each run. we
have to choose between
Arts Venue Run
Bookshop run (only 8)
College Run
Education and Information Run
Music and record Shop Run
Pub Run
Resturant Run
Recreation Run
sandwich Run
Any suggestions about where we should go? we can always try a
different one later on.

OK,
Danny, lets meet up.
We try and do these events as a group, since they usually take quite
a bit of effort, but one person take the lead on getting things going
and keeping them going. I think we would want to include people in
deciding on the venue, and the costs in particular have to be
considered. We can talk about this later,

For which event?
Yes, I've lots of good ideas (I'm an 'ideas man') but not all necessarily
right for both events. I'd have to mull things over for the respective 'do',
filter out and hone those ideas to fit. I've a lot of experience organising
events with/for the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
But, do you mean that any ideas have to be endorsed first? I would've
thought it would be the organiser's own responsibility to produce the goods
off his/her own back, and put on a good event.
However, email's not the ideal forum to chat about these things. I'd be
happy to meet you sometime for a coffee or snack . . . you owe me one anyway
(!) Ho ho ho!
(By the way, I'll be out this afternoon and won't be back until early
evening).

Some more ideas for events,
A Christmas/End of year Ball: it would be good to get a really nice
venue and have a ball, as a sort of term end for the classes, and to
invite people from Glasgow, Newcastle, Dublin etc to come to
Edinburgh. We could maybe include a meal before hand. And some live
music? It could coincide with Biki and Muso coming here, so they
could do a show too, or it could be the first week in december.
Argentine wine/Tango evening. How about talking to Oddbins to
organise an event to promote argentine wine and include tango - I am
sure we would get a group of dancers (!) and mix with people wanting
to drink wine....
Anyone interested in taking the lead in organising either of these?
