We regret we are not able to provide advice to those new to Buddhism, but invite those seeking information to consult the web site below which lists different traditions who meet locally - including Zen, Theravadan and Tibetan schools, as well as Friends of the Western Buddhist Order - and approach them directly.
1. Annual Buddha day (Wesak) celebration, an event set up by Jody Higgs, takes place each May at the Salisbury centre, 2, Salisbury Road, Edinburgh. Buddhists from all traditions attend, with each year a different sangha hosting. After practice there is shared food.
For 2009 Edinburgh Soto Zen group is organising the gathering for Friday 29 May, 6:30-9:30 pm.

2. This forum supports the work of EIFA (Edinburgh Inter-faith Association). The current EIFA representative of the Buddhist community is Suzanne Dance - email suzannedance@hotmail.co.uk
3. Annual Edinburgh intersangha retreats are held which practising Buddhists are welcome to attend (not suitable for beginners). It creates an opportunity for increasing dialogue, understanding and friendship between Buddhists within different traditions living locally.
