Taking a quick detour through Bay Park in East Rockaway on my way home this
afternoon, I was very surprised to come upon a small group of 15 Brant Geese
down by the water's edge at the southern end of the park. I've never seen Brant
on Long Island in the summer and I'm curious as to whether their presence in our
area at this time of year is a normal and regular occurrance.
