Description
Buffalo's most prolific and place-defining architect was Edward Brodhead Green (1855-1951), whose firm, Green & Wicks and E.B. Green & Sons, designed over 350 works throughout the Northeast, with a concentration of about 200 houses, banks, office buildings, churches, and public buildings in Buffalo. He has been called "the dean of Buffalo architecture."
This virtual society exists to promote the formation of an real-world organization of E.B. Green owners, tenants, enthusiasts, students, descendents, and historians. We also welcome those with an interest in Green's partner, William Sidney Wicks (1854-1919), and his son, E.B. Green, Junior.
We also have a new Flickr group!
The firm's chronology is:
1884: Green & Wicks founded
1917: Renamed E.B. Green & Son
1933: Renamed E. B Green after his son's death
1936: Renamed Green & James
1945: Renamed Green, James Meadows
1950: Renamed James & Meadows after Green's death
1952: Renamed James, Meadows & Howard
1971: Firm dissolved
