In response to the closing of the "Eastern Cougar" Yahoo! Group - a new "Eastern Mountain Lion" Yahoo! group is formed. This will enable the many folks who've been part of the old yahoo group the opportunity to continue to communicate, educate others, share ideas, news' reports and commentary re the Eastern Mountain Lion.
The mission of this new Eastern Mountain Lion group is to educate the general public by gathering/discussing evidence, pictures, sightings and stories of mountain lion activity in the Eastern United States. All information relative to the return of the wild mountain lion - e.g., changing habitat, available prey species, increases in prey/predator populations, the human element and mindset, human/wildlife population densities and any other influence that could lead to the return of the mountain lion to acceptable numbers - will be discussed.
Even though this group will most likely be unmoderated - as long as everyone is professional/kind in their posts, comments and replies - potential members must be approved by the moderator.
And since this group is called Eastern Mountain Lion please limit forwards, discussions and news reports of mountain lions that come from East of the Mississippi River - unless of course it's an occasional extraordinary report from west of the Mississippi.
Ad hominem comments, unacceptable language and messages are not permitted.
This group is open to all folks with an interest in Eastern Mountain Lions - e.g., professionals/wildlife biologists, hunters, trappers, environmentalists, photogs, outdoorfolks, farmers, students, concerned citizens etc. - and others who might have a pro or con opinion re the establishment of a sustainable/acceptable Mountain Lion population within the eastern states.
Potential members are asked to include a short bio or short reason for joining.
