beginning of the year themes

Hello all!
This year, my class includes many 2 1/2 year olds, who are quite
impaired. I am wondering, what themes do you use for the beginning of
the year? In the past I have done 'getting to know you/all about me",
colors, and names. I'd like to possibly try something else that these
students will be able to identify with...

HI, I am using Creative Curriculum too. I pick two kids per day/2x a week to observe or my asst. does. WE have a clip board per child with sticky notes on it...
