8 AM …  John Tillman, CEO, Illinois Policy Institute, discusses legislation sponsored by House Republican Leader Tom Cross this week in Springfield urging Speaker Madigan to schedule a vote on an economic reform agenda that would increase accountability and transparency into the state budget, rein in state spending and hold the line on taxes. While the leadership in Springfield has been vocal on the reform message, little progress has been made in enacting substantive measures. Further, many taxpayers have been demanding transparency, accountability, and curtailing runaway spending by the government, and a vote on the economic reform agenda would show these taxpayers that the government is listening.
