DykeDelta: For Pilots, Builders, Restorers and Enthusiasts

The DykeDelta is one of the first 4-place homebuilt airplanes on the market (prototype flew in 1962). It has a unique seating configuration with the pilot seated in front of 3 passengers. The Delta has retractable landing gear and folding wings. One of the reasons that the double delta configuration was chosen was to permit towing the airplane home behind your car on its gear without a trailer (if your state/province permits). Cruise speeds average around 170 MPH with the standard 180 HP Lycoming though a few other engine types have been installed.

The Dyke Delta was named the EAA Outstanding Design (1963) and the designer, John Dyke, has received many awards for his design and contributions to the homebuilt aircraft movement. The crowning achievement was his induction to the EAA Homebuilder's Hall of Fame in 2008. His other awards include EAA Outstanding Leadership in Sport Aviation and Aviation Education (1964), The Charles Taylor Award for 56 years in aircraft maintenance (52 years as a licensed A&P) and the Wright Brothers Memorial Award to name a few. EAA celebrated the 50th anniversary of this innovative design at EAA AirVenture on July 25, 2012.
