I do not have a command description for FT-990 and FT-947. The FT-947 manual
is available on the Yaesu web site, but the CAT pages are blank. I searched
the Internet again today but did not find anything. If you can, please scan
the CAT sections in these two manuals and email me the images, I will try to
create the INI files for OmniRig to support these transceivers.

This is because of the IOTA contset. When the cluster is so overloaded, it
makes sense to use filters to control the amount of displayed data. E.g.,
you can configure the filter (Tools -> Edit Filters) to display only one or
two bands, or only a specific mode. This is better than limiting the number
of spots.

What would it be useful for?

This is in my plans for the next version.
how about adding 2 meters and 440 ( i know not much

It looks like I have to start the to-do list even before the program is
released ;-)

Hi Alex & group. Bandmaster is running very well with a Kenwood TS-440 and a
desktop being remote accessed with a WiFi'd Thinkpad. I also am running
Mix2DxAtlas but I don't see 'Atlas' and 'MixW' 'talking' together through
Bandmaster. One conflict is sharing the COM port. Audio to the rig is. of
course uninterrupted, but working digital modes needs some sort of sharing
between the two programs' CATs. I HAD been running SpotCollector with DxView
, HamCap, and Ionoprobe, together with Mix2DxLabs, and results would
transfer by double clicking the desired callsign. Am I missing something?
Bandmaster certainly seems more efficient with system resources than the
DxLabs combos, and I look forward to using your approach.
It seems there was a piece of software out there that would create a
"virtual jumper" to enable sharing a COM port . Even if so, I suspect it may
be a cumbersome way to go.
Anyway, running fine here on Windows XP at 2.4 Ghz all the way down to
Windows 98se at 233 Mhz. Looking forward to learning more about using it.

Thank you for trying Band Master. I tested it only with my TS-570, it is
nice to know that it works with other rigs as well.

I developed a rig control engine called OmniRig that solves exactly that
problem, and released it as freeware available to all programmers. The
programs that use OmniRig have concurrent access to the transceiver and do
not interfere with each other. Another advantage of OmniRig is its
extensibility: to add support of a new rig, one just creates an ini file.
Band Master is my first program that is based on OmniRig, more will come in
the future. Another program that uses this engine is HamPort by Alex RZ4AG.
All other developers are welcome to join the club.
OmniRig is available at http://www.dxatlas.com/OmniRig

Hello,
I created the INI files for FT-990, IC-7800 and IC-706 MKIIG and uploaded
them to the OmniRig web site (http://www.dxatlas.com/omnirig). These files
require testing and possibly debugging.
I am looking for volunteers who can do a full test of the new ini files. The
complete list of rigs/files to test, the Beta Tester's Guide and testing
tools are available at the OmniRig site.
(OmniRig is a freeware transceiver control engine that is used, in
particular, in Band Master).

Hello All,
I've just installed DXLabILG and DXBandMap. I'm having some trouble:
1. The DXLabILG is supposed to show the great circle between my QTH and the
selected broadcast, but nothing appear in the DXATLAS window.
2. The DXBandMap is supposed to show the most recently spots at the DXATLAS
window, however the spots don't show up. This application needs the Writelog
running, which is.
I re-installed the DXTLAS to the default directory but didn't help nothing
at all.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hello group(s)
Has anyone on these groups interfaced a program with the Omni Rig Engine to
an older Icom with an LCU-3 interface, specifically an IC-761? I'm having
problems making mine work.
Thanks to all
Hi Lou,
Please download and install OmniRig 1.2, and set DTR and RTS to High in the
RIG 1 Settings dialog. Also, make sure that CI-V Transceive is disabled in
your rig.

Hello everybody,
I have just uploaded the Band Master 1.2 preview to
http://www.dxatlas.com/bandmaster/bandmaster12.zip
New in this version:
- extra filtering options: Only Spotted by Neighbors and Only New Countries;
- Spot History function.
Spot History displays spots in a completely new way that allows you to learn
the opetating schedule of a DX.
The setup package includes the latest version of OmniRig with direct user
control over the RTS and DTR bits.
While I am updating the Help file, please try the program and let me know if
something has to be fixed before the final release.
73 Alex VE3NEA
Hello Alex (and group)
I've downloaded it, I have DTR and RTS set to high, and I have Transceive mode
set to "off" on the Icom. I'm still running into some problems
1) I can set frequency with Hamport OmniRig, but having the program respond to
frequency has a short (1/2 to one second) delay. My poll rate is set to 100ms,
my timeout to 4000ms.
2) I can set mode with HamPort OmniRig, but the program never displays the mode
of the radio.
And oddly enough, I get the SAME response whether Transcieve mode is set to "on"
or "off". Because of this, and because I did have to manually fix the "rig"
file, I'd like to ask if anyone else has got an older Icom rig to work with the
Omni Rig engine? Is my rig file incorrect? Is "transcieve mode" not working
properly in my rig?

Hi Eli,
I have the Operating Manual for FT-897 non-D. If you are willing to do a
full step-by-step test of Omni-Rig with your transceiver as described in
http://www.dxatlas.com/omnirig/BetaTest.txt , please reply privately to my
email. I will develop the ini file and send it to you for testing, then you
will send me the test log, and I will correct the ini. Several iterations of
testing/correction may be required. Upon successful completion of the
FT-897.ini development you will receive a free registration of Band Master.

I sent you a email. I cannot get the rig to see it. From the
betatest.txt a couple things don't make sense. First off, it says:
CONFIGURATION
1. Start Client.exe.
2. Click on the Open Dialog button.
3. Select rig type and set com port parameters. Do not change Poll
Int. and Timeout.
Ok, how can you do step 3 if the FT 897 isn't a rig type....?
Next we have:
TESTING
1. Turn off the rig, start Client.exe.
DONE.
2. Check the Rig Type and Status labels on the upper panel. The
correct rig type should be displayed, and the status should be 'Rig
is not responding'.
RIG TYPE IS NOT DISPLAYED, THE 897 DOES NOT EXIST. STATUS IS RIG NOT
RESPONDING.
3. Check the Parameters panel. A color box to the left of each
parameter should be black if the rig has a command for reading this
parameter, and gray otherwise.
CORRECT.
The Set button to the right of the parameter name should be grayed if
the rig does not have a command for setting this parameter. Compare
the state of boxes and buttons to the list of commands in the
transceiver's manual.
....?
4. Turn your rig on. The Status label should change to 'On-line'.
DOES NOT HAPPEN.
If another application is using the selected com port, the status
should be, 'Port is not available'. When you close that application,
the status should change to 'On-line' immediately.
DOES NOT HAPPEN.
Compare the state of the color boxes to the actual state of the rig.
....?
5. Using the controls of the transceiver's front panel, change each
of the supported parameters and see if the changes are reflected in
the program.
OK THIS DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE THE PROGRAM DOESNT SEE THE TRANSCEIVER.
6. Change each parameter wit the Set button and see if the state of
the transceiver changes accordingly.
AGAIN, WE ARE NOT EVEN PAST THIS POINT..
7. Start two or three copies of Client.exe and see if they have
simultaneous access to the rig.
WOULD LOVE TO!
Ideas/help?!

Doesn't work. Omni-Rig never changes the status to Online. I can
select the 897 but it never changes to online when I turn the radio
on. I can close client.exe and open Ham Radio Deluxe and control the
radio. Close the app down, turn the radio off. Open client.exe and
turn the radio on, never changes status to online. I'm using the
Yaesu CAT cable via serial port 1 (COM1) in windows. I didn't change
any of the settings, speed, etc. Ideas?

Hi Elijah,
OmniRig does not generate the log by default, you have to enable logging as
described in the Tester's Guide. The Guide also explains in every detail how
to find the log. Please download a fresh copy of the Guide and follow the
instructions.
Please reply to my direct email address, not to the group.

Is there a specific .ini file for the TS850? I'm using the generic Kenwood file
which
appears to function correctly but just wondered if there was a more specific
file
available.
Trevor G0KTN
Hi Trevor,
Kenwood.ini matches the command system of TS-850 exactly, there is no need
in a separate file for this transceiver.
