Nope - maybe if I had a shirt like yours, Biscuit.
But I frequently cook in my c-do! (camp dutch oven)
<weak attempt at humor, sorry>

And I like skinny cooks. Well, one in particular - I've been enjoying her
cooking for 24 years. She kinda likes my cooking, too. But seeing me in a
speedo might ruin her appetite.

Fran,
Thank you so much for posting this yesterday.  I just found out I was one of the
winners!  I am so excited, yet I feel a bit guilty.  I wouldn't have known about
it if not for you AND I posted one of my best friend's recipes, who happens to
be Fran Neuppert.
I guess I'm just so fortunate to be surrounded by FRAN's!
Thanks again to both of these Frans and Camp Chef,
Julie from San Berdoo

Should work just fine. I did a lemon pepper seasoned pork loin last weekend.
Five pounds fits just right in the 12 inch.

Since I'm a newbee is the cook time going 2 b any different or cuz it is in

Hey Randy, I had the same problem (not the real-estate on the main
drag). What I did was find a local church who used their kitchen maybe
2X per week and worked out a rental/in kind deal. I make their coffee on
Sunday for free and pay a measly rent. The kitchen is commercially
certified and it can be a commissary.

Actually Omar, even in some counties in CA they are!

I had a friend a couple of years ago in Solano county who definitely had
to have a commissary and refrigeration before they'd give him a business
license for his roach coach.

I'd worry about the 40 - 140 rule. Another approach is to cook and pull
the pork. Store it in double disposable aluminum pans, with some of the
cooking juices. To serve, heat the next day, covered in the pans after
adding about 1qt of soda water to a medium pan. It works.

I feel firefighters earn their angel wings on earth. May your friend now use his
to guide the flames of the cooking fires of the friends he had to leave behind.
So when the wind becomes calm or at least moves in the right direction and the
flames burn well while you are cooking you will remember him well and believe he
is still cooking by your side! TERE

Outstanding! That's a lot easier for me to drive to than Lake Darbonne!
Although, I have a daughter that starts collage in Monroe this fall! Man I
can't do anything right!

One more benefit, My favorite nephew is in Shreveport so he will be able to
go ifn he still lives there in 2010. His dad is an engineer for GM and
well, we all know that don't look good right now. He does have one
advantage though, they make the small trucks and they are still selling!

Biscuit,

I've started to see info about a site for the 2011 National DOG;
is there a site for the 2010 N-DOG?

Dear Dutch Oven Cooks,
The Jasper/Newton County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to
participate in the DUTCH OVEN COOK-OFF to be held Saturday, June 27, 2009,10 am,
at the Ozark Real Estate Agency in Jasper, AR. Enclosed is an entry form and
information.
The Dutch Oven Cook-off is part of the 12th annual Buffalo River Elk Festival
held during the last weekend in June to celebrate the successful reintroduction
of elk to Newton County, Arkansas and the Buffalo National River. Starting on
Friday, June 26, 2009, the Elk Festival features the drawing of elk permits,
Ozark crafts, elk calling contests, kid’s fishing derby, music and dancing
each night, and many other exciting events.
The festival is held on the square in Jasper. The Cook-off will be at the Ozark
Real Estate Agency, 2 blocks south on Hwy 7. (same as last year).
We were able to double the prize money last year, so over-all 1st prize will be
$200.00;
2nd prize $100.00 and 3rd prize $50.00. We also added a PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD,
voted on by the public with a surprise prize.

We hope you will get out your Dutch Oven, season it, find some delicious recipes
and join us for lots of fun and great food.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please contact me. We are
looking forward to seeing you at the cook-off. Please return the enclosed entry
form and $10.00 entry fee NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 2009. For more

Are you ready? Have you signed up? Do you know what you are going to be cooking
yet??

So far we are about on track with last years number of people who signed up. I
was down there yesterday and the store looks great, they are stocking up on the
Dutch Ovens, our cooking area has green grass and they are excited that we are
making a return visit.

If you remember last year we had 45 Dutch ovens for the dinner. I would like to
get over 50 this year - Do you think it is possible??

Keep spreading the word about our little gathering and let's get more people
infected with the cast iron bug.

We will also be having a preliminary meeting regarding the 2011 National DOG. We
have been asked if we would like to sponser/hold the event here in the northeast
and have tentatively said yes. But we will need everyone to step up and help out
a bit if this is going to happen. We thought about having the meeting after all
of the festivities but we're open to suggestions. So....any suggestions???

Matt
