I'd say a 12" deep. That's 8 quarts IIRC. Makes plenty of soup, stew or a casserole for a family of 4-6. Plus most recipes are written for 9x13 pans, which

For a beginning oven, I would suggest the 12 inch regular dutch oven. The others mentioned are also good choices, but the regular 12 inch 6 quart is a good

I'd have to agree with the 12 regular. You can cook for a small army with one, and if the recipients have never used dutch ovens before, the recipes are
