The name Isaacson came from Andrew Durnford’s wife Jemima
Margaret Isaacson. I’m not sure where Montague came from but it also
shows up in one of Margaret’s son’s name for the first time (that I
know of) so it could have been a family name from her side as well. http://www.durnfordfamily.com/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I0221&tree=001

Hi Cynde, and et al Durnfords
Thank you for adding me to your yahoo group. I've been
receiving the e-mails and are all very interesting. As I visit the site, I have
noticed that there are family trees there. I would be happy to add mine
to this, if this would be of interest to the group.
Does anyone know the Isaacson line? Also, where did
the Montague come from?
I am planning a trip back to England and would like to find
some old records, visit churches and the graveyards if possible. My
understanding is that Margaret Isaacson, AMID mother is buried in a tomb in
London. DOes anyone know where that tomb is?
My Durnford line from Andrew MI Durnford is ALfred C.
Durnford and Harriet West.
Merry Christmas to you all,

Hi Cynde:
My wife and I were
at the funeral to-say for Andy Durnford (A.M.I.D.V). The funeral home
was crowded with additional people seated in an auxiliary room with closed
circuit T.V. Monitors.
There were various
individuals speaking including, a) One of his partners of over 20 years in
business, b) someone from the Lions Club, of which he was a member, c) someone
from the Sailing Club, of which he was a member, d) someone from the Motorcycle
Club of which he was a member, e) It was mentioned that he had worked for
Habitat for Humanity in the area, f) His son spoke - A.M.I.D.VI as well as,
g) his sister Frances. There were several songs sung by tape through the
P.A. system. A cousin - Anne - also spoke and had a difficult time as he had
helped her quite a bit. She was the daughter of Ted and Norma Durnford, who
also were in the U.K. in 2005. Also present was his mother Kay Durnford who was
in the U.K. in 2005 and will be 90 this coming August. My sister Margaret
Purser was there as well filling out the U.K. 2005 roster.
It was both an
emotional and a happy reminiscing recall of a life well lived but ended all too
soon as he was only 59.
It was a long
service with so many speaking but all there had been touched by his life
in some way or another, as attested to by the conversations after the service.
I thought it would
be good to fill you in on the departure of a Durnford from such an illustrious
line.

Hi Cynde
I have checked my records and come up with the same dates.
Prior to 1752 the calendar year started on 25th March. Thus a christening on 23
April 1655 would have been during month 1 of 1655. The death on 25th Feb
1655 would actually have been in month 10 of the same year.
I recall having got into a muddle on many occasions by the dating
system and hope I have got it right now.

Hi
everyone
Hope
all is well around the family.
I've
started having a look through some of the online records and I've come across
the English Criminal records from 1791 - 1892 and there are a number of
Durnford names listed.
Two
in particular that I found were AMI #1 and his son Montague, both found not
guilty of obtaining goods by false pretences in February 1851. Has
anyone found anything about these charges in any of their research?
There's
also a George Durnford who was transported after being guilty of larceny in
1841. I know he's not from my direct line but he could be the first Durnford
who came out to Australia.
Does
anyone know anything about these crimes?
Cheers,
Lucy
