San Diego Fusion Exchange is coming up fast! December 15th is the last day to pay for your registration by check, order a t-shirt, take advantage of the lead referral credit, or be part of the special class with Amanda and Shawn (more on both of these below).
Lead referral credits:
Follow registration is SOLD OUT (for now), and the waiting list is growing.
However, we're a little short on leads, so we've decided on a cool
promotion to bring some more leads out:
For every person that refers a lead (and that lead registers, pays,
and put the referrer's name in the box), the referrer will get one of
the following nifty payments (referrer's choice):
(a) $5 off per lead referred and paid -- to be received this year during or before SDFX (maximum $50 refund) OR
(b) $20 credit per lead referred and paid -- to be used as a credit for FX 2011 (maximum $60 credit)
For follows who haven't registered yet:
We are all out of follow passes, but if you register for a Dance Only
pass by December 1st, we can still get you on the list for housing and
carpools. We're happy to put you on the Follow waitlist (it's only a
couple people right now), and if we get a cancellation, we'll contact
you so you can upgrade to the full weekend. If you're All Access Pass or bust, then the waiting list will work for that too. To get on it, email sandiego.fusion.exchange@
gmail.com
with "Follows Wait List" in the subject and give us your full name and
city. If you register with a lead that will be participating in classes, you can skip the waiting line and register now.
Win a special class with Amanda Gruhl and Shawn Hershey!
Amanda and Shawn are going to give an exclusive class to the school or region that represents hardest at SDFX. We'll be judging based on total registrations, as well as lead/follow ratios. For example: if the Claremonts have 20 people, but 18 are follows, yet
Cal Poly has 12 and it's 6 leads, 6 follows, then Cal Poly wins. If Los Angeles has 50 people, but it's 30 follows, 20 leads, but
Houston has 45 and it's 23 follows, 22 leads, then Houston wins. The cutoff for being counted toward your region is December 15th, though, so get those registrations in!
January 1st is our final registration deadline.
If you want to save money on the door prices (and make sure there's a spot waiting for you), we need your registration. In addition, everyone registered by the 1st will be entered in a drawing to win passes to these awesome 2010 events:
(1) Austin Blues Party ~ Austin, TX ~ July 2-4, 2010
(2) Portland Blues Experience ~ Portland, OR ~ July 1-4, 2010 http://www.
portlandbluesexperience.com/
A dance weekend built around America's second largest blues festival!
(4) Dance 2010 ~ Tulsa, OK
The first world-wide blues dance championship!
Private lessons at SDFX
SDFX instructors will be available for private lessons throughout the weekend. This is a great chance to get personal feedback from teachers with a huge variety of backgrounds and experience. Time is limited, though, so email Ted Maddry at pic@... to sign up.
Vote for the location of Fusion Exchange 2011!
Go to http://www.vote4fusion.com/ and cast your vote for the site of next year's fusion exchange. We'll be announcing some of the instructors at SDFX, and maybe even the location. We'll also be selling a very limited number of tickets during SDFX, as well as giving priority registration to past fusion exchange attendees.
In case you forgot...
We have nearly 300 fusion songs from past and future FX DJ's available to stream free at http://www.playlist.com/fusionexchange. If you want to add a little fusion into your weekly blues dance, it's a great place for inspiration.
Thanks everyone!

More reasons why you should come to Austin for Lone Star on January 15-17th.
Hey Dallas and Fort Worth!
Lone Star is quickly becoming one of the top events in the country... and there are a lot lot lot of great dancers coming in town (see below and youtube any of the names if you don't know them!). I promise it's worth coming!
Q: This is a competition... why would I want to come if I don't want to compete? A: Well the main reason is because the dancing will be hot. The nights have some competitions, but there will be lots of time to dance... and after a competition, most everyone is pumped up and inspired, so the dancing is extra good. Plus, there are two fantastic bands along with some top notch DJs. Oh, and workshops during the days with some of the top instructors in the world...!!!
Q: What if I'm a newer dancer - am I out of my league? A: No! Dancing all night is for everyone. Workshops during the days are for everyone. And we also have some special contests just for you: a newcomer J&J for people who haven't really competed before, and an open strictly for you and a partner.
Check out the laundry list of people that will be here. You should be here too. :)

The Fun Style Swing dance competition has 10 West Coast Swing CONTESTANT ENTRIES
from Alamo West Coast Swing Club and One Balboa entry from Austin.
www.sacrazycats.com
I am challenging all the lindy, shag, swing and balboa dancers of San Antonio
and Austin to match these 10 Contestant Entries from Alamo West Coast Swing
dance club, a brand new club. All the members entered the competition last
night! Secondly, and even more important, I challenge you all to have friends
and family attend to match the 23 GENERAL ENTRIES the Alamo West Coast Swing
Club purchased. Help meet this challenge before the deadline of November 28.
If you are sending a check, just notify me of you competition or general entry
so I can count it. The "Dance for The Kids" fundraiser may be canceled if we are
not able to sell 100 tickets by the 28th. Unfortunately, this means the dance
community won't be able to help the children of ChildSafe by raising needed
funds as we had hoped. So please show your support by purchasing your ticket
online or thru the mail this week. www.sacrazycats.com
Thirsty Horse Saloon is able to accommodate up to 700 people, so let's pack the
house of this generous facility who is opening their doors for our Swing Dance
for the Kids as they are opening their doors on a closed business day.
Come dance and come show your support. The proceeds from this event benefit
ChildSafe and the sexually abused children of Bexar County. Remember, ChildSafe
helps over 1,700 kids annually…that is more than 6 children per work day.
During a time of year when we are all expressing our thanks for all of the
friends, family and blessings we have; please take a moment to think about those
kids who are spending this Holiday Season trying to cope and heal from the most
devastating experience of their lifetimes. During a time when these kids should
be enjoying their childhood, they are trying to figure out how to reclaim it.
Together, we can help restore the dignity, trust and hope in children
traumatized by sexual abuse by dancing in support of ChildSafe on December 6th.
Thank you in advance for your support.
HAVE A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING

for improving your Swing out as well as ways to put your special Swing
Out variations into a Jam Circle. We all would love for more Jam
circles to break out on the social floor but it seems folks don’t think
they’ve got what it takes to get out there. Well, that’s what this
workshop is all about. You don’t have to do aerials to go into a jam
circle…. Pull off some kick’n Swing outs and you’ll do great out there.
In this 2 hour workshop, we will teach moves and techniques that will
have you “itch’n” to get into that Jam Circle! Special
Note: Those interested in auditioning for ACME Swing Company are
strongly encouraged to attend. Included in auditions this year is a
segment on Jam Circles. This workshop is a great way to get
ideas and ask questions and perfect your mini Jam circle routine
Just in case that's not enough, how about our famed Swing on a String

for you old timers. Then at 9 we're blasting some
great music by our
local DJ's for you
to strut your stuff and perhaps even cut a little
rug.
How's that for a little fun in the evening. So let us recap.
