Paddle Length Survey   Message List

Remember your first paddle? Did you have any idea what size you needed?
How did you decide what length to use?

One of the problems that novice paddlers have is knowing what size
paddle they should be using. There are so many different factors that
go into deciding which length is best that it is just about impossible
to create a single formula. I've heard all sorts of rudimentary methods
including the armpit method, chair method, sternum method, just about
everything. Unfortunately there is no paddling fairy who can waive her
magic paddle and get you the right length. (If there is, let me know!)

USA Dragon Boating, LLC is developing a paddle length matrix to help
novice paddlers find the correct size paddle. To do this properly we
are taking a survey of dragon boat paddlers to compare their physical
attributes and experience level against their paddle length and type.

This is a short survey with questions like how tall are you, what length
paddle do you prefer, do you have longer than average arms... that sort
of thing. The survey is anonymous and conducted by a third party survey
company.

As our way of saying thanks, if you complete the survey we will send you
a complimentary issue of Dragon Boat World International Magazine
<http://www.dragonboatworldinternational.com/> , the new magazine
dedicated to the world of dragon boating. Of course in order to do this
your answers won't be completely anonymous, but we promise not to tell
anyone if you secretly don't like a stiff shaft...

Please forward this link to your teammates or anyone in the sport. The
more data we have the more accurate the matrix.

We will publish the results in an upcoming issue of Dragon Boat World

is greatly appreciated!

Cheers!
