OK. I am really mad. Accusing our company of doing anything to
disrupt the streets of Dogtown is untrue and unfair. The City of
Oakland has never had to pay a nickel to repair streets we have
worked on. We have gone way beyond the public works requirements to
patch any intrusions into the streets and sidewalks. In many case we
have on our own put in new sidewalks and repairs the city streets
around our work sites and onto our neighbor's sidewalks.

Because you have brought this particular item up I want everyone in
our neighborhood to know that it is you not Dogtown Development that
is in violation of the City requirements. A couple of years ago when
you put in the plants in front of your house you patched your front
sidewalk with asphalt. Asphalt is not allowed in the sidewalk area
under City and ADA regulations. It is not possible for people in
wheelchairs to traverse across your asphalt section of the sidewalk.
When I take my grandson walking in his stroller I have to go out in
the street to avoid your area of the sidewalk.

I asked one of the city inspectors how you got away with leaving the
lumpy asphalt in your sidewalk for years and I was told that no one
wanted to offend a City Councilperson. I never called the city on
you either, because I didn't want you mad at me. I like everyone
else in our neighborhood just walked around the mess you left.

I am really mad. I know this is political. You know I am supporting
Sean Sullivan for the District 3 Council seat that you now hold. You
have apparently decided to trash my company and my work. I take
great pride in my work. I have built over 70 homes for people in
Dogtown. We have improved the streets and it is you who have
violated city regulations and left a mess on our street. And you
have used your position to avoid compliance to the requirements that
all the rest of us have had to adhere to.

Nancy, you owe me a big apology if you want any remnant of our
relationship to survive this election.
