In this message Marco invites everyone that speaks Italian to join
his support group on CQ100 - moderator

attivita' commerciali, nessuna pubblicita' 3)Non trasmettere musica.

I don't have a site. What I needed to know is what do I do with easypal so I can view the pics I send out on exsisting cams so I can see how far I'm going out. I know the program is working because I've had QSOs with a couple of hams in different states. On MMSSTV all I did was install the program and send pics and I could see where it went. So far, with Easypal, I don't see me on any of the live cams. Am I doing something wrong?

Don't forget that DSSTV is a very poor system for broadcast.

With analog SSTV and programs such as MMSSTV you can send out a picture,
and anyone who can hear the tones will get some sort of image, It may be
out of sync, noisy, have half of someone elses image on top of it, but
you will see something.

with the DSSTV image, you have to get ALL of the data perfectly or you
get nothing. It works fairly well as a two way system, because the two
stations can request repeats, however for a station just listening it
may take dozens of repeat transmissions of the entire picture before
something is displayed.

When I've left the rig monitoring all day, I'm lucky to receive one or
two images, quite often I get none.

Hello Andy:
Thats not quite true.. with the rs encoding you only have to receive 80% of the picture to get the whole thing ( depending on the RS encoding used) RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4, RS1 90%, RS2 80%, RS3 70%, RS4 60%, (these are aprox) unless sending station has the RS encoding turned off,, then and only then you have to get every segment.. ( Nobody on 7.173 has the encoding turned off)( most run RS2 on .173)
It is NOT a very poor system for braodcast.. The MARS, NMars and other military are using EasyPal more and more,,it is very relibable.. From here in KY we swap pictures and txt with stations in CA Japan, England , Spain and south America and all of the United States..
It has never taken more than 2 or 3 repeats (BSR's) to fill in the picture...

sorry it IS a poor broadcast system...

"It has never taken 2 or 3 repeats (BSR)"

That's exactly the point, it works (and works well) if you are part of the
transmission system, actively requesting retransmissions but NOT if you
are just "earwigging"

The result is that stations who are active in the exchange get the pic,
but anyone else is unlikely to get the pic.

So it is unlikely that you will see your own image via a live cam unless
the station with the cam was active in the transmission anyway.

Does that make it a little clearer what I am getting at ?

I don't want to hijack this thread but I too am trying to get Easypal to work
with m Ci-V interface.

I have two interfaces and also ran into a problem with dual interfaces but my
question is in regard to PTT.

Even with one interface connected how can I get Easypal to send CI-V PTT command
?

The hex string that is included with Easypal doesn't seem to have any effect. Is
there additional codes that are necessary to get this to work ?

I assume that you use your CI-V interface OK with other control programs?

If so check the obvious first.

Check that you have selected the CIV option rather than the com port RTS
type switching.

Check com port number, baud rate and so on.

Check that you have not changed the CI-V address on the radio.

That's about all really.

If still no joy, try sending the command string from another
application. I suppose that there is a possibility that it might be
wrong.

There is a utility called VSPE Virtual Serial port Emulator
It has a monitor function that allows you to see what data is being sent
down the com port. So it's useful for debugging.

Hi.
Like Sigi i leave my radio running and parked on 3733 and come back to
many very nice pictures, the only trouble is quite a few of the pictures
dont show a callsign so i dont know who has sent them, however still a great
and fairly new mode to me.

Thanks.

Hi Terry,
under the "setup" tab if you put a tick next to
"Tag RX file with callsign/time/SNR/mode/band"
all your images will show callsign on the top of image.

Terry,

Under the setup tab in the main menu, go down and click and check 'Tag RX File with Callsign/Time/SNR/Mode/Band'.  This will put a header
band at the top of the picture with this information filled in.

Hi.
Like Sigi i leave my radio running and parked on 3733 and come back to
many very nice pictures, the only trouble is quite a few of the pictures
dont show a callsign so i dont know who has sent them, however still a great
and fairly new mode to me.

Thanks.

Terry.

Hello all.
I'm very new to this group.
Wanted to install EasyPal and check it out. When installing my FProt Antivirus
program found virus (Eldorado) within the program.
Anyone had problem with this?

Hello Seli.
Like yourself my AVG antivirus software told me

the the file had a virus - however i risked it - did two further virus scans and nothing was found  - the program runs just fine and no virus is detected / found.

Thanks Terry,
Read a little more about this Eldorado and it seems it is:
Hacking,Malware,Spam,worm. So called Medium risk.

Back in September I was having the same problems downloading EasyPal. Sent the program to a Code Slinging Wizard friend. He went over the program. Said there were parts that would alert like a virus.
There again, is it worth the risk of zapping your computer? Install it on some piece of junk you do not worry about and then run it!

This is more than likly a false positive.. have been having trouble with Norton also... download from Eriks web site 2dec09 which is a tempory fix until all the antivirus programs get there stuff straighten out.... If your running xp or vista, or windows 7.. get the free anti virus from Microsoft. works very well and it's free..

Check it with multiple AV checkers. False alarms exist. They seldom exist
in several programs at the same time. Also send the AV program's support
operation a sample of what flags as a virus and explain its bona fides.
They check it out, thoroughly, and find a work around that still detects
the virus but does not flag your program.

I am trying to setup EasyPal using my TS-850S via the CAT cable. However, I
cannot find the code(strings) for PTT On and PTT Off.

Is anyone else using this configuration? Or can anyone help me on these codes?

The manual for the IF232 settings can be downloaded at
http://tk5ep.free.fr/tech/ts850/if232/datas/if232.pdf

Please read the warning on page 3 about needing to convert RS-232
voltages with an IF-232 interface. However, if you do not have an
interface, there are designs available to homebrew one. I made a simple
one using a MAX232 chip when I had a TS-850.

Page 17 suggests that the commands are RX and TX but you may want to
confirm this by using a program like Ham Radio Deluxe to control the
TS-850 and by using a program like PortMon to monitor what is sent to
the TS-850.
