The Diggers appeared in 1648 at the end of the English Civil war with a mission to make the earth 'a common treasury for all'. In the spring of 1999 there were fluffy celebrations and peaceful land occupations South West of London to remember Gerrard Winstanley, William Everard and the Diggers' vision.
