The Diggers appeared in 1648 at the end of the English Civil war with a mission to make the earth 'a common treasury for all'. In the spring of 1999 there were celebrations and peaceful land occupations in around Weybridge, South West London, to remember Gerrard Winstanley, William Everard and the Diggers' vision.
