Gabriela, the wife of Diego Silang has become synonymous with womens rights. Well times change and now Diego Silang must be brought out from retirement to spearhead the fight for mens, more specifically FATHERS rights.

Republic Act No. 9262 dated March 08, 2004 and entitled: AN ACT DEFINING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN is an act that effectively deprives MEN of a lot of their rights. It is a divisive law that sets Women and Children apart from Men thus doing away with the FAMILY. When you read the full text of the act, you will see how unjust it is. SINGLE MEN take note, this applies to you too because an ex-girlfriend, under this act, can sue you for infidelity or breaking up with her !

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE is a REAL PROBLEM and we in this group affirm this. BUT WOMEN ARE NOT THE ONLY VICTIMS !

Why should one law uphold the rights of one gender while depriving the other?

The Filipino male should familiarize himself with this law lest he be surprised when a wife or ex-girlfriend files a case and he finds himself in jail.

The Filipina should familiarize herself with this law too particularly if she has a son or brother. Because while the goal of this law is commendable, it ends up being biased towards a gender which is inexcusable in a society where all persons are supposed to be equal before the law. AND this kind of bias is inexcusable in a judicial system where you are INNOCENT TILL PROVEN GUILTY.
