Kandy, November 25, 2010: The 33^rd Annual General Meeting of Old Rajans Scout Association (ORSA) was held on November 20th at Hotel Lagoon View in Pottapitiya, Kandy. ORSA member Dr. Rohan Wijekoon, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

ORSA is the first old scout association in the island which is formed in 1978, has been serving since its inception to the Dharmaraja College scout group and the scouting in Kandy district.

At the AGM, the ORSA launched the several activity programs scheduled to implement during next year for the centenary celebrations of Dharmaraja scouting which falls on 2013. The meeting was mainly focused on planning and review progress of events to be held in 2013.

ORSA organized a “Seth Pirith” and Dhamma discussion to Scout group who are to sit for O/L exams this month (Dec 2011).

The event was held at “Natha Devala” premises on 26^th November . The event was conducted by Ven. Sagara Thero on the acceptance of invitation from Ven. Gangodavila Ariyagavershi Thero. Our sincere thanks go to both the theros for their contributions to make the event a very pleasant and meaningful experience for the scouts.

The event was participated by the scouts of Troup No: 7, parents of them and ORSA officials.

We wish all of them Good Luck in upcoming Exams.

1^st committee meeting of the newly elected executive committee of ORSA held on 10^th December 2011 at Neits Hotel in Thalwatta.
The meeting was attended by a record number of committee members and also by their family members.

The meeting mainly focused on planning the year ahead with projects that are to be carried out and resourcing each of them.

Highlight of the day was our old scout Mr. Menikpura who he is employed in Dubai, making donation of Rs. 50000.00 for RISGO fund.

The surprised arrival of seasonal guest Santa made everyone happy with gifts distributed among everyone.
The meeting is proceed with a brief meeting of RISGO steering committee.

Mr Sarath Mataraarachchi a patron of Old Rajans Scout Association has been appointed as one of the Deputy Chief Commissioners of Sri Lanka Scouts Association.

Previously Mr. Mathararachchi held the Provincial Scouts Commission of Central Region. He was also one the most successful District Commission for Kandy District as well.

Importantly he was the Group Scout Leader of Dharamaraja College Scouts Group for 13 long years, where 1^st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group won the island merit flag for consecutive years.

The Old Rajans Scout Association wishes him best of luck in the new office.

The yearend Hunting Night 2011 of ORSA successfully held on 31^stnight at the Lake View Park International Scouts Centre with the participation of members, staff members Dharamaraja College and well wishers.

The Yearend Hunting Night was organized as a relaxing evening with full of food and fun of stories and songs. Even though the conventional Hunting Night is quite different, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants.

Everybody who took part in the event worked their backward cooking knowledge from their scout days and enjoyed every part of it.

Senior Member of ORSA, Mr. Lalith Kulathunga conducted the program while all the juniors helped others with food.

A constructive discussion between ORSA and representatives from each of the troop of the 1^st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout group together with the PL/APL (previously COH) resulted a well compiled Year Plan for Year 2012.

Representatives from ORSA shared their experience while team from the Scout Group provided facts to construct the Year Plan. The year plan’s main focus remained at grooming the Scout Group to a higher level by the time the RISGO 2013 be held at Dharamaraja to commemorate 100 years of scouting at Dharamraja.
