~Good Morning~
I wanted to touch base with everyone to highlight some of the new
offerings and park enhancements that we have currently. We are growing
each week and hope to have many of you come out for the first time and
many return for your 2nd and 3rd time. :)
PARK ENHANCEMENTS
Mountain Bike Trail
-We have the first major loop roughly cut that ties into 2 small loops
that currently totals about 6 miles of trail. It is coming together
very well. We look to have another TRAIL CUT this coming weekend. Alex
Stadthagen will heading this up once again. Officially, it will not
start until 9:00AM, but if you want to come out earlier he typically
gets to the park around 8:00AM.
I will need you to check in at the building so they can contact Alex.
Then we can either escort you down to the cutting area or Alex will come
pick you up. The contact numbers for both Alex and the building are as
follows:
Alex Stadthagen - 214 232 1310
DFW Adventure Park - 817 854 0085
Rental Bike Program
This program will be available for youth groups, churches, and corporate
groups to come out and partake in a nice mountain bike ride. Rent our
bikes or bring your own. We can tie the fleet of bikes and the trail
into our team building events, our Adventure Challenge, or Paintball
Adventure Challenge. We hope to have this up and running by 2nd
quarter.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
Challenge Course / Adventure Scavenger Hunt
We have added many new trails to our course. It is really looking nice
along the creek. We look to add more to the Adventure Scavenger Hunt
very soon. For those of you who have not done this activity it is very
similar to orienteering and map reading with clues and riddles to find
your way.
Soon we will be launching a 2nd phase for folks that have already done
the Scav Hunt. The second phase will get into more of a compass reading
intro that makes up true Land Navigation. Call for details! 817 854
0085.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
Paintball Fields
If you are into paintball we are incorporating 3 new fields down in the
deep woods area that will tie into our Lagoon course and our current
deep woods course. We will be able to trailer you down to our new
parking area and stage in the woods to where you can play wooded fields
all day.
For CHURCHES AND CORPORATE GROUPS ask about our PAINTBALL ADVENTURE
CHALLENGE! Break up into teams and compete on some of the challenge
course elements. Then move into a RECON MISSION to find additional
ammunition and equipment in order to take on your opponent in the FINAL
PAINTBALL SHOOTOUT!! Call 817 854 0085 for details.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------
MAJOR EVENTS
Viper Scenario Game THIS WEEKEND THE 29TH!!
If you are into scenario games we have a big event this weekend. Call
for details and register at 817 854 0085.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------
MOCK Adventure Race March 13th
If are you are looking for an inexpensive local Adventure Race that will
offer some great challenges. Keep your eyes peeled for the next MOCK
Adventure Race coming the 13th of March a Sunday!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

FEEL FREE TO COME OUT AND TAKE A TOUR ANYTIME. JUST GIVE ME A CALL.
Come see us soon!!!

information on this years BOMB Gathering in Moab.
Of course you can always visit the Gathering webpage

There are currently 57 people registered for this years event! It should be
an amazing time.
ALSO if you are heading to Moab and do not have a BOMB jersey, we would like
to offer you $10 off. It would be great to see everyone in a jersey this

HI again,
For those who can make it in the morning look for my Silver / Gray
Dodge Grand Caravan or my Dark Metalic Blue Santa Cruz Superlight.
I look forward to riding with you in the morning.
Brad
Any BOMBers up for a ride this afternoon? I may try to hit something around 2-3pm. I'm thinking Northshore is the only one within reach that is dry. It looks also like Rowlett is mostly dry. I might check that one out.
I’m going to be riding Grapevine again tomorrow morning at 9:00, that means start pedaling then not arrive then, this will be about a 2.5 hour ride at a good pace, not fast per-se’ just at a good comfortable rate. I would welcome some company if anyone can join me. I’ve got to be back home by 12 so I can’t leave later than 9, though I could go earlier if that works for anyone. Hope to see you there.
Brad... I didn't catch your emails about yesterday until today... I had a last-minute ride around the same time yesterday and wondered if we'd maybe bumped into each other out there indadvertantly. I'm easy to spot... prosthetic right leg riding a Specialized Enduro (silver) with a buddy riding a red Cannondale Jekyll. We stopped off to help out a guy who got a pinch flat fairly close to the old Sneaky Pete's turn-around.
Ring a bell?
Anyhow, I may be up for a Saturday ride at 9am. My wife is VERY due and we're expecting a little girl any minute, but as long as she's not in labor, I'm going to try to get in as many rides as I can. I love Northshore's technical aspects and it's a serious workout to do the 2.5 hour out and back. That pace sounds right about on par with my ability.

Wow has this week
been crazy. And after all of it, we are not able to make it to the race. One
of our team member’s dad ended up in ICU and my cold has turned into an
ugly chest cough. Oh well, we still going to ride.
We will be at Cleburne state park at 9
am and then head to dinosaur valley for more riding. Call us if you are
interested in coming (Billy).
I’m taking my parent to the airport today for them to
fly back home sunny CA and on my way back I’d like to get in a ride. Is
anyone interested in joining me?
I would highly recomend this ministry and encourage you to take a step forward and just say "yes." It will seem like a major sacrifice today, but you will feel blessed beyond measure the minute you share Christ's love with one of these men.
This ministry has changed my perception of convicts and both reminded and convicted me that I have a comparative nature regarding sin. These men are sinners and require Christ's blood in the same quantity that I do. The difference is... many of these men know they need help and are "sincere seekers."
God has brought many of these convicts to a true point of need and many of these men just need to hear a kind word from Christ to help them find their way to Him. Most are keenly aware of their sin and need for redemption--and are truly ripe for the harvest.
Christ commanded his disciples to go forth and prepare the way for Him and he reminded us that harvesting would be out of our comfort zone.
Luke 10 2He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves."
I extend this invitation to my friends in the DFW BOMB (Believers On Mountain Bikes). If anyone is interested, we would be happy to help connect you to this ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church. The group visits the George BETO unit (and another, I believe) in Corsicana, TX once per month. They meet in the Prestonwood parking lot at 6:30am and carpool to the prison. You will likely be back by 4pm.

I’m going to try hard to be there ASAP
after church.We usually don’t
leave the church parking lot afterward until 12:30 which would make it tough to get home and make it back to Northshore by 1:30pm.I’ll call Nina on my way to give
an estimate of show time.What
awesome riding weather!I’m
looking forward to seeing you guys.

be Good!
Please spread the word that there will be some folks working the trail on
Saturday the 15th from
9AM-4PM. Come if you can, we would love to have you. Alex Stadthagen would be
the one to contact
at 214 232 1310 on how to get to the cut spot.
I will probably not be there, I had a biking accident last week and am not very
mobile. I am doing
better and should be back on my feet by next week.

Our friend Sam did a face plant out at Z-boaz Park this week. I told him
not to try that trick on his own:-). Anyways, the Lord was with him and he
only needed a few stitches and a pep-talk before going home. This crash
could have been devastating. I praise God for the protection he has
provided for our brother Sam. Pray that his headaches would be minimal and
his confidence be restored (he also had a concussion).
Thanks for your prayers and get better Sam.

Sorry I didn’t clarify. Shawn
hasn’t received his bike and with the weather, Ruston would not be favorable. Are you
coming in town??? We haven’t decided what to do for Shawn’s
b-day but we will be around. Z-boaz is 8:30 am for the beginner’s
clinic and then they are having a time trial. You can stay the night with
us since it is on the west side of FT W

Let us know if you had a successful ride. DORBA.org shows that Northshore is still muddy. I also see we got some rain last night in NE Dallas. I wonder if everybody got some.
We will be cutting and cleaning tomorrow if you can make it out. Also
bring you bikes and we can ride a little as well if you can make it out.
Feel free to call the office at 817 854 0085 or 817 994 7056 cell. If
you call the office ask for Jim and he can help you. If not call me on

Should be some good times. We had a group out from DFW Outdoors that
come out today and really did a great job. Also had a couple of folks
from Adventure Team. Between Alex and myself along with all the support
we are getting we are on our way to have a great trail system in place.

I first want to say thanks for such a warm welcome to this
group. As many of you know I moved here from Southern
California back in late September. The transition has not
been easy but having fellow Christians to ride with have made it easier.
Thank you Nina and Shawn for leading this group and for your commitment to a
very big and loving God.
24 Hours of Adrenalin:
Two years ago my club from SaddlebackChurch participated in the 24 hours of
Adrenalin at HurkeyCreekPark
in Idyllwild, CA. We had a corporate team; 10 riders;
did two, ten mile, 1800 ft of climbing laps had a blast needed to sleep for a
week to recover. I guess lack of sleep combined with strenuous exercise will
do that. I’ve tried to get our group in CA to do another one but
kept coming up a few riders short. So, I have a couple of
questions? Is there interest in doing a 24 hour event? If so, where
do I find out about them in this area? Would you be willing to do the one
in Tucson, in October?
When could you commit, non-refundable $100?
Night Riding:
Is any interest in a regular (every
week) night ride, with dinner after at a local Taco stand?
The group I led in California, the Saddleback Church Mountain
Bike Fellowship, had a very successful midweek night ride, all year long, in
all conditions except when it was raining or too wet to ride. We rode in
the Santa AnaMountains when snow was on the peaks;
5,000 ft peaks; when it was beautiful and warm, and when it was so hot that we
couldn't wait to finish our ride to go get something cold to drink and a good
meal. These rides and the fellowship after really helped build great
friendships.
Is there interest in a consistent ride
like this for the DFW BOMB group? I envision that a ride posting would go
out several days ahead and that people could respond and let the ride leader
know if you were going to make it, so know one is knowingly left behind (before,
during or after the ride). The rides would have to be at a central local
location that was easy for people to get to and at a time that worked well for
those interested in riding. These rides would of course require lights
during the winter, and maybe later in the year should the start time be too
late or distance be too long. If you do not already have one, I suggest
buying the best light kit you can possibly justify because you don't want to go
dark on a night ride, and there's no such thing as too much light on the
trails.
I may also be able to get people a deal on lights if
there’s enough interest. It would only be for high end Nite-Rider HID
lights (they really are the only kind to get). I know a guy at Nite Rider,
was able to get a demo set for a friend for $200, and the shop I used in CA
will still get me good prices.
GrapevineLake is probably a good place because
it's somewhat central and there area plenty of places to go grab dinner after.
I envision this being more of an intermediate level ride,
not for newbies or those that may need too much handholding. Night riding
should be more for those who are comfortable on their bikes and can handle most
situations.
Tuesdays are probably best since my
family schedule fills up easily and we are busy with Elliott’s, my son,
basketball league on Mondays. And Tammy (wife), Elliott and Lauren
(daughter) will soon start Tae Kwon Do again in the evenings.
If you are interested in this what
time works for you?
6:00; 6:30; 7:00; 7:30 - 3:00 am?
Riding outside DFW
I will not be able to do too much riding outside the DFW
area and would be happy to organize rides for those who can’t make the weekend
trips.
As far as suggestions for riding excursions I have a
couple; I think that doing a Hut to Hut trip in the Rockies, near Durango,
sounds really fun; so does riding the Dolomites, in Italy, Molokai Ranch in
Hawaii, or the trails of Central America (I hear Costa Rica and Belize have
amazing riding). There’s also a place closer in Arkansas
that I read about through Outside Magazine last summer that sounds really
great, it’s Mountain View
or Mountain Home something like that. There’s a trail system that
has some unknown number of miles of riding and really looks fun. Lastly there’s
Flagstaff, AZ I rode there on my drive out here and
this is paradise! Riding in the forest was very cool and the trail system
in the area is great for all levels, including both ends of the spectrum.
They even have a high end bike shop in town.
One last thing
Something that we did with some success in CA was to make
sure and take time to socialize together too. I would be willing to host
a social evening at my home every 6 months or so where we could either do a
pot-luck thing or have it catered. This also helps our non-rider spouses feel
more connected to what we do for fun and exercise. Any interest in this,
we could bring friends that may be interested in riding but have not made it
out yet with the group, too.
Again I’m glad I found this group and I look forward
to getting to know you folks better.
