Okay, my $0.02 worth...
WTF?
As far as your question, I do not see why this group is the place for
it. I do agree that the Texas Mafia should be held accountable for
their crimes.
Look, "determinism" is what it is. If hold out a glass filled with water and
let go of it, it is easy to understand what will happen next. Determinism is
the fabric of the universe and the causal relationships therein. It is that
simple. The more complex occurrences are, shall I say, are a little more
difficult to thread together and illustrate.
Anything that has happened could only have happened in the way that it did. The
future too is "written" (c'mon let's not parse words here, you know what I
mean). The future can only occur in one way. That is the essence of
determinism. The proof that the future can only occur in one way, is to look
at the past.
If Bush-co is to be "punished", then I would certainly be happy about that.
Again, I do not understand what your subject has to do with this group?

Dear Group Members,
I am posting this provocative question for our group to consider.
I'll start off by saying this:
I am against punishment as being unethical from a deterministic standpoint.
HOWEVER, balanced and measured consequences are essential to all appropriate and
non-destructive learning. And consequences doled out to corrupt or tyrannical
leaders may have a couple of unique additional roles of acting as a deterrent to
future, would-be tyrants, and to restore confidence in the minds of the public
that they have some protection against such political abuses.
Yet, I don't think these same kinds of consequences apply to the average citizen
who's actions generally affect the lives of a relatively few and are not done
with the backing of a government.
So, what kind of consequences would I condone for Bush and company? I think
that 1. divesting of all calculated material wealth acquired from direct and
indirect abuses of power. 2. A full censure and sanctioning of each member,
including no presidential library or book sales or public speaking fees. 3.
Reconfirmation hearings for all permanent appointees, such as those on the
Supreme Court. 4. Optional re-vote on all bills signed during Bush's presidency,
to be decided upon by the succeeding party. 5. Permanent Exile and loss of
citizenship.
I don't "blame" Bush or any of his accomplishes; I don't want him to die, or
suffer for the sake of revenge or any such counter-productive or irrational
goal. I do believe in the need for negative feedback.
I don't feel good about what I said or what I feel, but there it is. Someone
please talk me out of this.
OK, I'll stop here.
