Works for me, although it is a bit of an emotional distance from
just how dire things seem to be before Harry gets into her mind
and the scene they are now seeing, especially since *we* know the
latter is or was very real.

She vanished under an unexplained anvil that suddenly fell from the sky.

Harry said trying not to laugh.
I love "going Acme on her".
Speaking of copyright violations, in the mostly? distaff Tanya
Grotter series:

As I remember, when the headmistress(?) of the school first
says the nom de guerre of the evil sorceress, Chuma-del-Tort,
an iron? appears and tries to brain her. A quick Google search
couldn't confirm this, though.

Headmistress? A few minutes ago the Grangers and Luna were all here."

arrived,
I can't see them being asleep, though (no way would they willingly
take a sleeping potion). And Harry at least knows they're going to
be frantic with worry. (Plus Luna is going to find the humor in
this very funny, I suspect.)

do."
And I can't see them not hovering based on the info we have.
Maybe insert a paragraph or two of parent and friend interaction
and then Blanche resumes control of the agenda with them sitting
quietly in the room?
