Publicists Colon and Halimi about media manipulations
January 22, 2001
Paris, January 21 (Tanjug) - "Do not hate media, the media tell the truth",
it is a message of Belgium journalist Michel Colon and Serge Halimi,
well known editorial writer of magazine "Le Monde Diplomatique",
from the conference on media manipulations during NATO aggression
on FRY with which they a long time misleaded media in the West about
events in the Balkan.
Explaining at Paris tribune "Friends of magazine Le Monde Diplomatique"
on a theme "War, globalization and media: Kosovo example", Colon
stressed that the war which had been waged under so-called "humanitarian"
excuse (regarding that there are neither oil nor diamonds in Kosovo and
Metohija) was "less war for Kosovo, but more war against Yugoslavia".
Belgium journalist stresses "that we are at the moment witnesses of
repeated colonization", that wars which are waging under the excuse of
globalization - "colonial wars", which clear the way for carrying out a plan
of multinationals", in which Yugoslavia "do not fits".
The United States of America and Germany "were stirring up fire in order
to present themselves later as firemen", Colon reminded discussing his
claims with media quotations, which are in his book.
"Oil, anywhere, where its location, is American and only there the
geography deceit itself", Colon paraphrased the thought of American
thinker Noam Comski, pointing out that "humanitarian" war had the taste
of Middle East and Caucasus oil and that Yugoslavia found itself on the
target, among other things, because of its geostrategic position".
Colon showed on the example of depleted uranium, besides other things,
where is a limit to disrespect of life from multinationals, which incite Euro-
militarism not worrying about their soldiers, not to mention civil population
in other countries. French army treated its soldiers in the same way, hiding
the truth about the use of ammunition with depleted uranium from its
public, Colon noticed.
"They deceived us on altruistic war", journalist Halimi said and stressed
that journalists who broadcasted the statement of NATO spokesman
Jamey Shay were not aware that it was also "war against journalism,
because the victim was the information".
That war brought "information to vassal position, or what left from it",
Halimi stated precisely and added that, among other things, it showed in
ultimatum to Yugoslavia during international conference on Kosovo and
Metohija in Rambouillet at the beginning of 1999, as it NATO spokesman
James Rubin admitted later on.
"Paradox of mondialization are people who pay very well in front of
cameras", Halimi said denying the reports on false massacres which
showed in Paris "Le Monde" and NATO reports which, besides else,
"Newsweek" broadcasted.
We found out, Halimi adds that NATO "do not know how to differ"
convoy of refugees from tank convoy, but that, from 97 killed journalists
in 1999, 25 died in Yugoslavia and that "the killer of journalists" in that
year was NATO.
Gilbert Boisvieux, law expert of the OSCE, which visited Pristina,
presented its "difficult experience" in impossible work conditions and use
of law in the situation when Americans leaded, hiding the exiles and
murders of Serbs from ethnic Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija.
Boisvieux said that she is personally discouraged because the law in
Kosovo suffered a defeat and stressed that no matter what secretary of
State or French Minister of Health Bernard Kouchner said, according to
the law, civil mission did not do anything at all.
She reminded that ethnic Albanians live freely in places where Serbs are
majority and that they are coming back, reminding that Serbia's legislature,
based on Rome's law, hardly differs from West or French.
None of Serbs can survive, and even think to live in ethnic Albanian
community in Kosovo and Metohija, without endangering their lives,
regardless of 35,000 soldiers from international forces.
