Incidents During the Past 24 Hours
Multinational Brigade North
House Fire
Yesterday morning, a fire was reported in a house north of the railway
station in Mitrovice / Mitrovica. Soldiers from the KFOR French
Mechanized Infantry battalion responded and quickly extinguished the
blaze.
Multinational Brigade Centre
Handgrenade Turned In
At noon yesterday at Multinational Brigade Centre headquarters in
Prishtina / Pristina, a local resident turned in a handgrenade to the
gate guard. KFOR Norwegian Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts safely
removed the grenade from the headquarters and transported it to their
compound for destruction.
Multinational Brigade West
Car Searched; Weapon Found
Late yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Multinational Brigade West patrol
stopped and searched a car at a mobile vehicle checkpoint in Vitomirice
/ Vitomirica. During the search, the patrol found and confiscated a
pistol, an ammunition magazine and six rounds of ammunition. The patrol
handed the driver of the vehicle over to UNMIK Police.
Houses Searched; Weapons Found
Very early yesterday, in response to a report of shots fired, a KFOR
Task Force Falco patrol searched two houses near the Catholic church in
the village of Bistrazhin / Bistrazin. During the search, the patrol
found and confiscated an AK-47 assault rifle and a hunting rifle.
Houses Searched; Weapons Found
Early yesterday morning, a KFOR Task Force Falco patrol and UNMIK Police
conducted a joint house search operation in Gjakove / Djakovica and the
village of Maliq / Moglica. In Gjakove / Djakovica the joint search team
found and confiscated an AK-47 assault rifle and a full ammunition
magazine. In the village of Maliq / Moglica, the joint search team found
and confiscated four AK-47 assault rifles and three pistols.
Multinational Brigade South
House Searched; Weapon Found
Early last night in Prizren, in response to reports of shots fired,
soldiers from KFOR Task Force Prizren conducted a cordon and search
operation in the Kosovo Serb part of Prizren. During the search, the
soldiers found a man carrying an AK-47 assault rife and a small quantity
of ammunition. The soldiers detained the man and confiscated the weapon.
Four houses were searched but no additional illegal weapons were found.
