Incidents During the Past 24 Hours
Multinational Brigade North
Nothing Significant to Report.
Multinational Brigade Centre
Houses Searched; Weapons Found
Early yesterday morning, KFOR Finnish battalion soldiers conducted a search
operation in Shtime / Stimlje. Among the illegal items discovered and
confiscated
during the operation were two pistols, two pistol magazines, one rifle, one
shotgun, two AK-47 assault rifles and ten ammunition magazines. UNMIK Police
is investigating.
Unexploded Ordnance Found
Yesterday morning, a KFOR 45 Royal Marine Group patrol reported that it had
found a grenade in Prishtina / Pristina. KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal
experts were sent to the location of the grenade and destroyed at the site.
Bomb Threat in Pristina
Yesterday evening, following a bomb threat against the Prishtina / Pristina
Sports
center. KFOR 45 Royal Marine Commando Group assisted UNMIK Police in
evacuating the Building. The Miss Kosovo competition was taking place in the
Centre at the time of the bomb threat. Nothing was found during a search of the
building and the competition was allowed to continue.
Multinational Brigade West
Road Traffic Accident
Yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Task Force Falcon vehicle was involved in a road
traffic accident with a civilian car. Three soldiers in the military vehicle
were slightly
injured and transported to the KFOR Italian hospital in Peja / Pec. There were
no
civilian injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
Multinational Brigade South
House Searched; Weapons Found
Yesterday afternoon, KFOR Task Force Prizren Military Police conducted a house
search in Korishe / Korisa. During the search, the Military Police discovered
and
confiscated two shotguns, one pistol and seven rounds of small arms ammunition.
Car Searched; Weapon found
Yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Task Force patrol and KFOR German Military
Police stopped and searched a civilian car at a checkpoint in Prizren. During
the
search of the vehicle, the soldiers found a pistol. The weapon was confiscated
and
the driver of the vehicle handed over to UNMIK Police.
Multinational Brigade East
Bomb Threat
Yesterday afternoon, KFOR 503rd Military Police Battalion reported that a bomb
threat had been received by telephone against the Gjilan / Gnjilane Information
Centre. The building was evacuated and a search conducted by Explosive
Ordnance Disposal experts. Nothing was found and the building was declared
safe.
US KFOR Service Member Dies
Yesterday evening, a KFOR U.S. service member died yesterday from injuries
sustained while performing an operation in Multinational Brigade East. The death
was not a result of hostile action. The name of the service member is being
withheld pending notification of the family members. Task Force Falcon is
conducting an investigation of the incident.
Road Traffic Accident
Yesterday evening, a KFOR U.S. Military vehicle was involved in a one vehicle
accident eight kilometres southwest of Gllogoc / Glogovce. Two soldiers and a
civilian travelling in the vehicle sustained minor injuries. All the injured
were
evacuated by helicopter to Camp Bondsteel for medical treatment. The accident
remains under investigation.
Shots Fired
Early this morning, a KFOR Task Force 1-36 patrol reported shots being fired in
Gjilan / Gnjilane. A search was conducted in the area nothing was found.
