KFOR, UN Officials, Albanian Police Discuss Crime Fighting
KUKES, Nov 22, 2000 -- (BBC Monitoring) Text of report in English by

Increase of cooperation among the local police of northeastern zone of the
country, KFOR [Kosovo Force] and UNMIK [UN Interim Administration
Mission in Kosovo] is necessary to fight transported crime.
This was the conclusion drawn at the meeting of representatives of Kukes police
department with representatives of KFOR and UNMIK held on Monday [20th
November] evening in Kosovo, in the presence of OSCE representatives.
"In principle UNMIK said he agreed to increase cooperation in fighting crime on
both sides of the border and exchange information in this relation,' said the
deputy
director of Kukes police, Shyqyri Gjoshi.
At least 20 wanted persons in Albania are reported to have been sheltered in
Kosovo.
Also control was asked to be increased on the border crossings of Qafe Morine
(Tropoje), Qafe Prushi (Has).
Currently on the border crossing of Qafe Morine and Qafe Prushi are allowed
only small vehicles and people but not goods.
