Incidents During the Past 24 Hours
Multinational Brigade North
Update on Search Operation in Prilluzhe / Priluzje
At 10:30 p.m. last night, KFOR Multinational Brigade North concluded its cordon
and search operation in the village of Prilluzhe / Priluzje. At the conclusion
of the
search, the Fushe Kosove / Kosovo Polje to Zvecan railway was reopened to train
traffic.
Car Searched; Ammunition Found
Early this morning, KFOR Multinational Brigade North soldiers stopped and
searched a car at a checkpoint south of Prilluzhe / Priluzje. During the search,
the
soldiers found 210 rounds of ammunition and one AK-47 ammunition magazine.
The illegal items were confiscated by the soldiers.
Multinational Brigade Centre
Spanish Galleon Arrives at Prishtina / Pristina Hospital
Yesterday, a wooden galleon set off into a cold and foggy morning on its maiden
voyage. Bound for the children's playground at Prishtina / Pristina hospital,
the
vessel left Murphy Lines, home to the KFOR British Combat Support Battalion, on
the back of a KFOR truck.
Built by Sgt. Vernon Hope and Marine Mike Wood of the Commando Logistic
Regiment Royal Marines, the galleon took over 350 hours to build and was made
entirely from scrap materials. In addition to the galleon, the soldiers
installed
slides, swings and seesaws for the use of all children visiting the hospital.
Since
arriving in Kosovo in mid-July, the battalion has constructed five playgrounds
for
area youth.

House Searched; Ammunition Found
Late last night, KFOR Multinational Brigade Centre soldiers searched a house in
the village of Raskovo / Raskove. During the search, the soldiers found one 20
mm
projectile. KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were sent to the scene,
and safely removed the projectile from the house for later destruction.
Multinational Brigade West
Unexploded Ordnance Found
Yesterday morning, a child stopped a KFOR soldier and told him about an
unexploded ordnance device near the village of Llabjan / Labljane. KFOR
Explosive
Ordnance Disposal experts were sent to investigate, and safely removed the
device for later destruction.
Man Searched; Pistol Found
Yesterday morning, a KFOR Multinational Brigade West patrol stopped and
searched a man in Gjakove / Djakovica. The man was found to be carrying a
Zastava pistol and nine rounds of ammunition. The items were confiscated
because the man's weapons authorization card had expired.
Multinational Brigade South
Shooting Reported
Shortly after midnight this morning, medical personnel from KFOR Task Force
Prizren treated a Kosovar Albanian man who had been shot. The wounded man is
currently in the German military hospital in Prizren. A short while later, five
members of the Kosovo Protection Corps detachment in Zym / Zjum reported to
the KFOR Military Police station in Prizren that their compound had been shot
at.
The shooting incident was confirmed by a KFOR patrol. The incident remains
under investigation.
Unexploded Ordnance Found
Just after noon yesterday, four Kosovar Albanian children came to KFOR's Camp
Progress compound and informed the soldiers there that they had found two
unexploded ordnance devices near the village of Ljubizda. KFOR German
Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were sent to the site of the find and safely
removed the unexploded ordnance devices.
House Searched; Weapons Found
Yesterday afternoon, KFOR Task Force Prizren and German Military Police
conducted a house search operation in Prizren. During the search, the soldiers
found two pistols and 10 rounds of ammunition. The soldiers confiscated the
illegal
items. One Kosovar Albanian was arrested in connection with the search.
Multinational Brigade East
KFOR Soldier Assaulted
Late last night, a group of twelve Kosovar Albanian men gathered outside of the
KFOR 1-37 Armor compound in Cernice / Cernica. One of the men shoved a
KFOR soldier. The soldier was not injured, and the man was immediately detained
and charged with the assault. The man was transported to the Gjilan / Gnjilane
Information Centre. UNMIK Police is investigating.
Wedding Party Arouses Anger
Early yesterday afternoon, KFOR Task Force 1-36 Infantry responded to the scene
of an incident between some Kosovar Albanians and Serbs. A group of cars
belonging to a Kosovar Albanian wedding party had attempted to drive through
Pasjan / Pasjane waving Albanian flags. A crowd of about 150 Kosovo Serbs
stopped the 13-car wedding party and tried to force them to remove the Albanian
flags. An argument between the Kosovar Albanians and Kosovo Serbs ensued, but
was quickly brought under control by soldiers from KFOR Task Force 1-36
Infantry.

Press Conference with Multinational Brigade West Commander
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, the Multinational Brigade West commander,
Brigadier General Abrate Biagio, will hold a press conference in Peja / Pec at
11:30 a.m. This will be his final press conference before the brigade change of
command on Nov. 3, 2000. The press conference will be held at the brigade's
headquarters in the Hotel Metohija. KFOR bus transportation for journalists will
depart the CPIC in Prishtina / Pristina at 9:00 a.m. and will return following
the
press conference.
