Search Operation Conducted
Yesterday, approximately 500 KFOR Multinational Brigade Centre soldiers
conducted a search operation in the brigade's area of operations north and
northwest of Gllogoc / Glogovac. Among the items found during the search
operation were a machine gun, seven AK-47 assault rifles, an SKS rifle, three
shotguns, a pistol, two grenade launchers, 31 RPG-7 rockets, twenty grenades,
two M-80 light anti-armor weapons, several shotgun shells, and over 3000 rounds
of ammunition. KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts assisted in the
search operation. The search demonstrates KFOR's continued commitment to
removing the weapons of war from Kosovo.
Incidents During the Past 24 Hours
Multinational Brigade North
Grenade Found
Yesterday morning, a grenade was discovered by some children who had been
playing near a garbage dump southeast of the village of Koshutove / Kosutovo.
KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were sent to the scene and after
careful examination safely removed the grenade from the area.
Multinational Brigade Centre
Grenade Thrown at House
Yesterday afternoon, an unknown assailant threw a handgrenade at an abandoned
house south of Viti / Vitina. There were no reports of injuries in connection
with the
incident. The abandoned house sustained only minor damage. UNMIK Police is
investigating.
Road Traffic Accident
Early yesterday evening on the main road south of Gllavnik / Glavnik, a KFOR
armored vehicle collided with a civilian tanker truck carrying a load of diesel
fuel for
KFOR. Three KFOR soldiers riding in the armored vehicle were injured in the
collision. All three were transported by KFOR British ambulance to the KFOR
Russian field hospital. There were no reports of injury to the driver of the
civilian
truck. As a result of the collision, approximately 24 tons of diesel fuel
carried by
the tanker truck spilled on to the highway. KFOR 26th Engineer Regiment was
initially sent to the scene with a load of sand to contain the fuel spill. To
further
contain the spill KFOR 1st Battalion The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment
obtained additional sand from a local civilian merchant. The accident remains
under investigation.
Wounded Man Brought to KFOR Compound
Last night, a car brought a man suffering from multiple stab wounds to the KFOR
1st Battalion The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment compound southeast of
Gllavnik / Glavnik. The wounded man was initially stabilized by military medical
experts at the compound, after which he was transported to the civilian hospital
in
Podujevo for additional medical treatment. No information about the man's
condition is available. UNMIK Police is investigating.
Multinational Brigade West
KFOR Patrol Stops Fight
Yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Task Force Pegasus patrol stopped a fight between
two men in the village of Zallkuqan / Zlocukane. One of the men, who had
sustained injuries in the fight, was initially treated at the Task Force Pegasus
compound and then later transported to the KFOR Italian military hospital in
Peja /
Pec for further treatment. The KFOR patrol handed the other man over to UNMIK
Police.
Medical Treatment Provided
Yesterday afternoon, a KFOR Task Force Istrice military medical team was
dispatched to Gorazhdec / Gorazdevac to treat a man who had been badly beaten.
After performing an assessment of the beaten man's condition, the military
medical team transported the man to the KFOR Italian military hospital in Peja /
Pec for treatment.
Grenade Found
Last night, UNMIK Police requested assistance from KFOR Explosive Ordnance
Disposal experts in inspecting a house near the Task Force Falcon compound.
During the inspection, the KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal troops found a
handgrenade. The troops safely removed the device from the house.
Multinational Brigade South
Search Operation Conducted
Late Tuesday night, soldiers from KFOR Task Force Prizren and German Military
Police conducted a house search operation in the village of Dushanove /
Dusanovo. During the search, the soldiers discovered two pistols, and 30 rounds
of
ammunition. The illegal items were confiscated. One Kosovar Albanian was
arrested in connection with the search operation.
Multinational Brigade East
Grenade Thrown at House
Early yesterday evening, unknown assailants threw a grenade at the house of a
Kosovo Serb in the village of Binaq / Binac. There were no injuries reported in
connection with the attack. A KFOR Task Force 2-327 patrol searched the area
after the incident, and recovered the grenade pin and spoon, as well as some
shrapnel fragments that had been embedded in the wall of the house. Witnesses
reported seeing a white car fleeing the scene immediately after the incident.
UNMIK Police is investigating.
