PRISTINA, Yugoslavia, Oct 25 (AFP) - Kosovo's UN chief
administrator Bernard Kouchner on Wednesday wished former Dutch
prime minister Ruud Lubbers well in his new post as UN High
Commissioner for Refugees, a job the French humanitarian had wanted
for himself.
"I wish him well and the best of luck," Kouchner said in
Pristina.
The former French health minister had said publicly that he was
a candidate to take over from Sadako Ogata at the UNHCR when she
steps down on December 31.
He told AFP Tuesday that he would leave Kosovo within months,
after completing the transfer of Kosovo's councils to democratic
control following Saturday's municipal elections.
