KFOR Press Update
Pristina, 24 October 2000
by Major Steven R. Shappell, KFOR Spokesman

Rocket Hits Apartment Complex

Just after 10 p.m. last night, an unknown assailant fired a M80 Zolja anti-tank
rocket at an apartment complex in Prishtina / Pristina. The apartment complex,
known as the YU Programme, is primarily occupied by Kosovo Serbs. In response
to the attack, KFOR 45 Commando Group and UNMIK Police established a
cordon around the building. KFOR Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts, KFOR
British Defense Fire Service and specially trained explosive sniffing dogs were
sent
to the scene to assist UNMIK Police in the investigation. No injuries were
reported
in connection with the attack, although the building sustained minor damage.

This morning, KFOR Commander Lt. Gen. Carlo Cabigiosu condemned the attack,
and promised to do his best to improve the already tight security at the
complex.
Security at the complex presently includes mobile patrols day and night, fixed
checkpoints and KFOR soldiers permanently living in the complex.

Houses Searched; Weapons Found
Just after noon yesterday, a KFOR Task Force Tizona patrol heard some shots in
the village of Kaliqan / Kalicane. In response to hearing the shots, the patrol

Early this morning in Strellc i Eperm / Gornji Streoc, a KFOR patrol observed a
man who was shooting a pistol from inside a house through a window into the air.
At the time of the sighting, there was a party taking place inside the house. As

weapon at the soldiers. The gunman, who was drunk, ignored repeated warnings
by the leader of the patrol to put down his weapon. After the patrol leader
fired a
warning shot in the air, the gunman threw down his weapon and fled the scene.
The patrol notified UNMIK Police, who responded immediately. UNMIK Police,
assisted by the KFOR patrol, conducted a search of the house and the
partygoers. Among the items discovered in the search were an AK-47 assault
