METROPOLITAN AMFILOHIJE CONGRATULATES DR. KOSTUNICA ON HIS ELECTION AS
PRESIDENT OF YUGOSLAVIA

The Rt. Reverend Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral,
congratulated Dr. Vojislav Kostunica, the presidential candidate of the
Democratic Opposition of Serbia, on his election victory yesterday. In the
message of congratulations it says: “Respected Mr. Kostunica, on behalf of
the ancient Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, and myself
personally, I wish to congratulate you on your election as president of the
Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.”

“We are convinced that Serbia and Montenegro with you are entering the
twenty-first century in renewed, indestructible unity, based on St. Peter of
Cetinje and the dust of the father of Serbia, Karadjordje, reinvigorated by
the true Balkan sources of Europe, open to contemporary European democracy
and integration, as well as to all healthy, modern achievements and trends
in the world community.
