Re: Hearing aids

I have had hearing aids since the age of 2 and I am now a fully functioning
pre-med student. My only complaint growing up were that people would ask all the
time what were in my ears. I was not aggravated by the question necessarily but
the fact that I was mostly asked at an age which it should be obvious what they
were. Other than that, it really took no getting used to. Its just basic human
nature, you want to be able to hear.

I want to ask something here, kind of a two-part question. I probably know I
will get a ton of answers, however, I guess I just need to know it for my peace
of mind.

hearing aid, how long did it take to get use to it? (I know this depends upon
the child).

years ago, this is one area where I have to admit I'm scared over. I know my
hearing is deteriorating fairly quickly now and soon it will be gone. Really
depresses me in a lot of ways. I kind of wished at times I would rather have
been deaf since birth, then I wouldn't miss what I never had. Yet since I've
had some hearing for most of my life, knowing I will get to a point where it
won't be there anymore.

I should do or where to go to help me deal with this better. I'm 56 and I'm
honestly scared. Even at this point I still suffer from tinnitis all the time
(I've never known silence) and ever since I can remember I've had ear infections
in one or both ears. This, besides the birth defects in my ears are whats
taking my hearing. It scares me and makes me mad and worries me, to not hear my
loved ones voices again.

vent. Talk to you all later.
