I have been getting a lot of questions about where Dead Rennie came from so I thought I would give a short history of the name and the idea. In the summer of 2004 I started thinking about a story I wanted to write set at faire. That September I was attending IRF in Amana Iowa, and decided to see what it would be like to commit a murder at a ren faire. My first volunteers were members of the group I was with and close friends, but before the end of the faire strangers were coming to me and asking to be killed. I do have the distinction of killing the entire royal guard that weekend. No body got hurt and quite a few people were wearing my mark of red lipstick. The next few faires I attended I had lots of fun killing people and taking picture until someone mentioned I should do this professionally, and Dead Rennie Photography was born. The portraits done by Dead Rennie now are mostly traditional with costumes or props, but if anyone requests it I will do the occasional dead photo.
