We're going to have t-shirts next year and we'd like to feature a Dragon*Con
artist for the artwork on the back of the shirt. The winning artist will
obviously get a shirt with their design.
Guidelines-
Design must have sharp lines which will show up well when printed and must
be in black-white without any excessive shading. It needs to be
family-friendly. The design will be on the back of the shirt and should be
submitted in a high-detail jpg image. The design cannot focus on any one
fangroup. A second file may be submitted with text integrated into the
original design. The text will be "Dragon*Con 2010 Parade." Secondarily
and optional at this time, a second line of text will read, "Come March With
Me!" If you do add text, please use the same style to create a third file
which will simply read PARADE STAFF to be on the front breast of the shirt.
Artist's signature and http (if applicable) can be worked in discretely.
Suggestions-
We had been thinking of having the parade route drawn with representations
of the various fangroups. Look at the database for last year for various
ideas of exactly who marched. Another suggestion is the parade route with a
dragon (perhaps a Chinese one?) winding around the route. Alternate ideas
are of course encouraged! Various artistic styles are welcome.
Knock our socks off! We will feature lower-rez versions of all of the
designs in our files or on a website in the links. The winning design will
be on t-shirts sold through Cafe Press at no profit and available to
everyone. Staff will wear the shirts the day of the parade with a minor
variation to make us more visible. Submissions should be submitted to
lieran@... before December 31, 2009.

I live in the metro Atlanta area and started attending in 2006, taking
pics with a cellphone. ;o
This year I finally had a digital instead of disposables and have some
great shots. Here's the directory for the different cons:

What can I say?
How about THANK YOU ALL for making this year's parade an absolute delight and
just plain, undenibly incredible!
Almost 2600 of you braved the early morning light of Saturday, looking fantastic
out there on Peachtree. And, as always, the parade vehicles were amazing!
There are tons of parade pix and vids out there. For those of you that have
posted your links - YAY! Keep 'em coming. You made it on CNN again this year.
And I'm told that at least one of the major networks picked us up as well -
showed footage after the Chik-Fil-A game! WOW! And let's not forget that Nimoy
and Shatner mentioned our impressive parade in a panel.
I also wanted to thank parade staff for everything they did to make the parade
happen- lots of work, lots! That's Aurora Celeste, Chaz, Dan, Heather, Kris,
Laela, Marilyn, Robert and Scott.
It was great to meet those of you that stopped by our table. =) I sincerely hope
we all can do this again next year!
Thanks again for a GREAT 2009! Well done!
JP
How many members were at DragonCon this year? And, is there any estimate on how
many viewed the parade? This was my 8th Con and it looked to me like it was the
largest.
Hey! I participated in this year's parade with the Colonial Fleet.
Unfortunately, it does not seem I am allowed to join the forums according to
their
site. Nevertheless, I had a great time meeting and marching with you all!
I seemed a bit out of place at first, but after a few minutes, I fit right
in with the group. I was the guy with the black tank top with the rifle
that loaned it to everyone for photos. This year's parade was a blast despite
the threat of rain. I believe we pulled it off beautifully! Great job,
guys! ^^
So Say we all! ^^
Sincerest regards,
Adam Zalonis

That was so much fun! I was marching with the Spartans as Queen Gorgo! ;)

Wow what an awesome parade. The weather couldn't have been more perfect!
Here is a link to the photo's I took of the parade. I tried to capture everyone
but as you can see some are better than others. I'll do better next year.
Please enjoy and feel free to share.

Hello everyone!
This is KRS-2 and I'm the one who marched as Bleach's Rukia in her fighting
uniform. Just wanted to let you good people know that I had an absolute blast @
D*C, even though I didn't get the chance to march as Emma from Victorian
Romance, which was the real cosplay I wanted to wear this year. More than
likely next year, though, I'll be back-to march in the parade, possibly stay in
a hotel suite (even though I live here, but an hour away in Paulding) AND to
have a few more cosplay outfits on hand so that I can be more than one character
for a change. I tip my hat off to everyone that made the parade a total
success, and I'll see you guys and gals next year!
This was my first time in a parade of any kind. I really enjoyed it. Everything
went so well which says hard work and experience were involved. My nine year old
had great fun. Thanks for a memorable day!!!

Hi BC,
Thanks, the heads up and input much appreciated. =)
Sorry to hear that you've experienced damage to your costume by some idiot(s) in
the crowd. I really hope it wasn't during our parade. No one from the D*C
parade has voiced a complaint like that to me before.
Last year, we were accused of causing the monumental amount of empty soda cans
and cups, along with everything else that might have been left on the
streets/sidewalks by onlookers. Nope, not us.
Not that many of our groups give things out anyway and most of them that do give
it to the little kids.
We also have a 'mini clean-up crew' of two that trails the parade. They do
sweep the street and pick up stuff they find along the way. Just not on the
sidewalks. Actually, it's two members in costume but they were concerned about
complaints so they've volunteered to do this for the last few years.
I haven't been told to stop the practice yet, so we'll do it one more year and
see how things go.
You going to at con this year? Thought I read somehwere you couldn't make it
afterall. Just won't be the same without your divine, spiritual guidance there.
Thanks again,
JP

convention registration, including picking up pre-reg'd memberships, opens at
4PM on Thursday (in the Sheraton).
parade sign-ups for once you get to con and check-in/ribbon grabbing start at
4PM on Thursday as well (also in the Sheraton).
but not sure exactly what kind of pre-reg you're looking for.

Greetings,
I am a local amateur photographer who has taken parade photos the last few
years.
I'll be walking around Woodruff park starting at 9am Saturday taking pictures. I
always put my pictures up on Flicker for everyone to enjoy for free.
If you would like a picture of yourself or your group simply flag me down and
I'll take a few and email them to you. I'll have a note pad for you to write
down your email address or you can download them from flicker.
It's all FREE my way of giving back to the Dragon Con community.
I'll be wearing shorts and a black Dumbledore's Army T-shirt and a Hard Rock /
London ball cap.
My name is Mike
Again my pictures are FREE . And no I am not promoting anything Just my way
of giving back!
My name is Mike and I'll be wearing a black Dumbledore's Army T-shirt and a Hard
Rock / London ball cap. My email is Mikepss2001@...
Two more names to add to the list of email bounces:

Verity, confirmed for the Anime section of the parade
JP
We're off to Dragon*Con! It might take us a while to answer questions and the
like - subject to intermittent lurking because we'll all be otherwise occupied
for the next few days or so. =)
If you have a question, stop by our table in the SHERATON at Con Reg/Badge
Pick-up on Thursday or Friday.
Remember to post your parade photos in the "Photos" section of our group and/or
send us the links to your pix and vids in a message here. Can't wait to see
them!
Looking so forward to seeing everyone there! Have a great con!
Best,
JP
Thanks! Resending you the info.
