We split a three-bedroom house among four people (me - Ashley and Steve - and Kate, who is leaving for Florida next month). The available room is a relatively large finished basement. It costs $650 a month and we split utilities at pretty much always less than $100.

The house has a full laundry room and a great back deck, and there are three half-bathrooms so that everyone gets their own. It is in pretty much the best location ever... three blocks from Union Station for the Red Line or the Circulator buses - easy walks to the H St nightlife, Eastern Market, and Chinatown - and an amazing coffee shop, pizza place, Bikram yoga studio, and grocery store all within one block. There is also an X2 bus that goes right into the middle of downtown and a free shuttle from Chinatown through the neighborhood, both of which stop right at our house.

It's definitely a fun house... there is a steady flow of libation, we go out often, and have thrown a couple of epic house parties. Steve is a bartender at one of the H St establishments, so we're regulars around the neighborhood. But of course, we're also respectful of private spaces and stuff, we do our own things, and we try to keep the place comfortable and habitable. We have a mid-size puppy and a cat in the house, so we're hoping for someone who'll love our pets but probably not have any of their own.
