The word, "Migdalim" (towers), is in the plain text as follows:
" . . . in the day of the great slaughter,
When the towers fall." (Is 30:25)
Also in the plain text, verses 12--15, as follows:
"Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel:
Because ye despise this word,
And trust in oppression and perverseness,
and stay thereon:
Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
AS A BREACH READY TO FALL
SWELLING OUT IN A HIGH WALL
WHOSE BREAKING COMETH SUDDENLY AT AN INSTANT.
And He shall break it as the breaking
Of the potter's vessel that is broken in pieces;
He shall not spare: So that there shall not be found
in the bursting of it a sherd to take from the hearth,
or to take water withal out of the pit.
For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel:
In returning and rest shall ye be saved;
In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength;
And ye would not!"
Again, as in Zephaniah, the implication is we have come under
judgment for turning away from God. In Kabbalah we speak of the
Shedim (demons) of the astral or nether world. When we violate
God's commandments and engage in unwholesome activities, i.e.,
sexual immorality, entertainment that appeals to our baser
instincts, including vulgar music, or entertainment that features
violence; if we engage in certain occult practices--using incense
that has been dedicated to idols, call upon departed spirits
through ouija board, etc; use curses or encantations or blood
sacrifices to call upon the aid of spirits; abuse drugs and
alcohol; in short, do anything that is not wholesome or leading
us upward spiritually, then we give energy to the Shedim. This
can cause them to actually materialize into our sphere at times.
(The reports of UFO abductions read like ancient accounts of
encounters with demons--even the physical descriptions given.)
Or, if they do not materialize, then can take possession of the
bodies and minds of disturbed individuals or weak individuals
and cause them to terrorist acts or other destructive things
(such as suicide, self-mutilations, sexual abuse, etc.)
We all want to believe in a Loving God. The scriptures
also speak, however, of "the fierce anger of the LORD." This
is a metaphorical way of saying that we bring destruction onto
ourselves as a society if we engage in activities that give
energy to the Shedim. The Shedim are mostly evil. The 5th
dimension is the realm of Good and Evil, or the realm of Thought.
The Shedim (demons) are beings whose material vibrations connect
with negative Thought and from which they can draw energy. This
is Kabbalistic teaching. When they have drawn enough energy, they
can bring all kinds of destruction into our sphere. Thus the
scriptures refer to "the fierce anger of the LORD." This "anger"
happens because we have violated His commandments.
The popular evangelists, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson,
were not wrong to draw a connection to the recent catastrophe
and the work of certain groups pressing for vile, immoral things
under the banner of liberalism. Biblically there is a definite
correlation. They were intimidated, however, by the Press and
popular sentiment and have now apologized and retracted their
statements. They err in this regard, as do most of the popular
religious leaders, because of a spirit of false patriotism that
says, "My country--Right or Wrong!" The Prophets, such as
Isaiah, Jeremiah and Zephaniah, did not back down from the
truth. Even if it meant going completely against popular opinion
and being tortured and killed, they held steady. May God grant
us true understanding and wise and steadfast spiritual leaders!
Dean.
