As I look more at word definition 2910, I see some very profound
ramifications.
I see first and second advent of Christ symbolism presented. The rejection
of the Lord's work by the Lord's people, coming to a head. The Jews
anciently and the Mormons/Christians today.
Remember that root for word 2910 itself means "To hang, suspend."
When I quoted that part about "hanging up the laws in a public place to be
seen of all men," I was quoting definition "(II)". This ties to the second
advent of Messiah and the rejection of his work among them, which work will
hinge largely on the principles of freedom.
In the first definition "(I)", Zodhiates gives the following:
"they hanged Him on wood,"
referring to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by the Jews via the Romans.
Isn't it interesting how one word definition can be so full of meaning and
opposite ramifications.
On the one hand, "hang" can be thought of as an anchor-like, foundation-like
fixed point upon which we can rely. On the other hand "hang" conveys the
idea of lingering on a precipice.
Oh the irony that through rejection of the Lord comes redemption for those
who place their trust in him.
It is through the Jews rejection of the Savior that he was lifted up that
all men might be lifted up by him.
Likewise will the second advent be when all is said and done, but on a
political/government level.
The people of the Lord reject the freedom they were supposed to uphold, and
yet in the crucible comes redemption from the ensuing captivity.
