Two kinds of frosting in this one tempting message:
1. Partly Dave goes out in a blaze of movie stars and baked goods!
2. Facebook Me! news
THE PARTLY DAVE SHOW: CELLULOID HEROES -- SATURDAY, JUNE 20. (AND
IT'S "FREE COOKIE NIGHT"!)
This Saturday night, June 20, is your last chance to see The Partly
Dave Show before we go on hiatus again ... and there are free, home-
baked cookies involved, so listen up!
We're wrapping up The Partly Dave Show's spring run at the Neo-
Futurarium in glamorous style with our "Celluloid Heroes" edition --
an evening of pieces about movies and movies stars. Come join us for
a little stroll down Hollywood Boulevard ... just us, the cameras,
and those wonderful people out there in the dark.
Our A-list guest stars for this show include big goddess and Late
Night Catechism nun Lisa Buscani; novelist (and Pansy Kings favorite)
Robert Rodi; and the always-entertaining Venus Zarris of
ChicagoStageReview.com, whom you might remember from a few P-Daves in
the past. Live music will be supplied by Anthony Whitaker, performing
songs from his one-man show about Judy Garland.
Plus, of course, my dazzling co-hosts Christopher Piatt and Diana
Slickman helping me host the whole shebang.
I should also note that although Lisa Buscani is one of my oldest and
dearest friends in Chicago, and we have performed together many times
over the years, due to various quirks of scheduling this is actually
her *first-ever* appearance in The Partly Dave Show. Shocking but true!
As if all that weren't enough, it's Free Cookie Night! We'll be
serving up complimentary cookies at intermission -- thanks to the
audience at May's "Fairy Tales" edition of the show winning our
little game of Fairy Tales Bingo. (Never let it be said that the
Partly Dave house doesn't pay up.)
I have it on good authority that the cookies in question are going to
be home-baked with love by a very talented baker and friend of the
show. Our "cookie fairy" will be the one and only Vally Val, who has
occasionally delighted friends at various Planet Earth-related events
with wildly delicious cupcakes and other goodies from her insanely
creative kitchen. She is not afraid of words like "ganache." Trust
me, you're in for a treat.
Finally, let me say this: every time The Partly Dave Show goes on
hiatus, I'm never sure exactly how long it will be before it comes
back. Could be months, could be a couple years or more. So seize the
Partly Dave ("carpe davem") while you can -- come help us finish up
this run with a bang. And by "bang" I mean, "a really fun show and
some pretty amazing baked goods."

FACEBOOK ME! UPDATE ...
Continued thanks to everyone buying my book Facebook Me!, and helping
spread the word about it -- especially those of you who've written
reader reviews for Amazon, posted about it on Twitter and Facebook,
and so forth.
The best news is that although it took a while, the book has finally
made its way into the bricks-and-mortar stores, including the big
chains. I myself have seen it in the wild at places like Borders and
Barnes and Noble, and I'm getting great feedback from readers who I
didn't even go to college with.
Also: for the entire month of June, Barnes and Noble is featuring
Facebook Me! along with a number of other Peachpit Press titles, as
part of a 30%-off "stepladder promotion." I'm not exactly sure what
stepladders have to do with it all, but 30% off is always a good
deal. You can check that out here: http://tinyurl.com/nfpxsy
And if you haven't already, you can drop by the official Facebook Me!
Group on Facebook for info about the book, links, and more:
