We love discussing matters of free speech, religious tolerance, and the related concerns currently in the news. This forum is intended as a demonstration of that, as well as an examination of the hard questions involved in living in a global society.
I realize two new members have presented us with a great number of forwarded articles in the last two days. One article, or even two, acceptable if it is intended to spur discussion. We all have Internet access, and, as such, can resource these pieces on our own. One or two e-mail might suffice if it includes links to those articles, as opposed to 16 e-mails of pasted articles. Anotate the links: why should they be read?
We certainly can gain insight from other people. Anyone who is not reading or discussing, with a listening ear, probably lacks depth in their own views (this goes into any topic, not just this one). Let us esteem to have depth, which will lead to insight, followed by wisdom.
We, in these United States, enjoy great freedoms when it comes to saying what we believe, think, and desire. The most effective way, I think, to employ these freedoms is not to rely on the opinions and articles of others. Limit ourselves to the words and ideas of others, and we only become voiceless ourselves, and parrots.
Play nice. Let's discuss.
