Friends of Dance Away started this Yahoo! Group in order to discuss the cancellation of our beloved dance event and keep in touch following the end of its run at the Unitarian Society of Santa Barbara. It ended July 29, 2011 after 33 years.

Started in 1978, Dance Away was a free-form weekly dance event that was an alcohol-free, smoke-free, drug-free, and family-friendly venue for free expression, which made it a great alternative to the downtown club scene. No partners are required. Any dance style was accepted. People of all ages and backgrounds were welcome.
