It is a good news for the humanity. At last the EU has been able to recognise this universal enemy and have started to take remedial action. The question now is  when will the Americans do it or they will at all do it.

European Union plan to call for the division of Jerusalem : A Step Forward ?

 


The Foreign Ministry of Israel on Tuesday lashed out at a European Union plan to call for the division of Jerusalem between Israel and the Palestinians, saying such a move would harm the chances of renewing Middle East peace negotiations. EU foreign ministers are expected to issue an official call next week for Jerusalem to be divided, in order to serve as the capitals of both Israel and a Palestinian state. A draft document authored by the current holder of the rotating EU presidency, Sweden , and implying that the EU would recognize a unilateral Palestinian declaration of statehood, has been obtained by Haaretz. "The process being led by Sweden harms the European Union's ability to take part as a significant mediator in the political process between Israel and the Palestinians," said a statement by Israel 's Foreign Ministry.

 

 


" Israel is  waging a diplomatic campaign to keep the EU from issuing such an endorsement, but diplomats close to the EU deliberations believe it is almost inevitable.
The EU foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on December 7 for a two-day meeting in Brussels on the peace process, after which a statement outlining the body's Mideast policy is expected. The Swedish draft represents the first official EU articulation of a solution for one of the core issues of the final-status arrangement between Israel and the Palestinians. The document expressed the EU's concern over the stalemate in the peace process and calls for the immediate renewal of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in accordance with a prescribed timetable. The goal, it states, is "an independent, democratic, contiguous and viable state of Palestine , comprising the West Bank and Gaza and with East Jerusalem as its capital." The draft refers directly to the situation in East Jerusalem, calling on "all parties to refrain from provocative actions" and stating the EU Council "has never recognized the annexation of East Jerusalem . If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found to resolve the status of Jerusalem as capital of two states. The Council calls for the reopening of Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem in accordance with the road map. It also calls on the Israeli government to cease all discriminatory treatment of Palestinians in East Jerusalem ."  On the issue of borders, the document states that the EU will not accept any changes made by Israel to the 1967 borders unless they have PA approval. The EU, it says, welcomes PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's proposal of a unilateral declaration of statehood and would "be able, at the appropriate time, to recognize a Palestinian state."

If EU does take this stand it will be a step forward.We are simply at a loss why common place things require so much time for Europe or US to understand. Why negotiation require so much time for solving the Palestinian issue. The main party is Arabs or Palestinians. The Israel or Israelis are primarily a foreign imported group which has been established by the West by force and by their totally dominated UN in 1948.Why it would take time to settle the border when West Bank borders are well-known, when it is basic right of all to return to homeland, when settlements in West Bank are all illegal? It is a total failure of western morality in international relations. We hope the West realizes their colossal failures and immorality even late.

Was the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members on August 15, 1975 merely the result of personal malice and an act out of sudden fury of some army officers?

Long investigation by veteran US journalist Lawrence Lifschultz has made it clear that there was a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the dark episode of August 15.

Lifschultz in a number of investigative reports published in newspapers made it clear that Khandaker Moshtaque and a quarter of US embassy officials in Dhaka were closely involved with the small section of army officers in the August 15 coup.

At long last, Lifschultz disclosed the name of his "very reliable source", the then US ambassador in Dhaka Eugene Booster with whom he has maintained close communication for the 30 years.

Booster repeatedly objected to the conspiracy leading to the August 15 assassination, even issued written instruction in this regard, but failed to prevent the then station chief Philip Cherry of US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Dhaka office from doing the conspiracy.

Lifschultz's plan to publish an interview of Eugene Booster in this regard remained unfulfilled as Booster passed away on July 7 last.

The new-born Bangladesh could not save herself from the wrath of then foreign secretary Henry Kissinger who could never forget that Bangladesh was born in opposition to his suggestion.

Along with Salvador Allende of Chile and Taiyoo of Vietnam, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was in Kissinger's political vendetta.

What USA started during the Liberation War in 1971 with attempt to split the Awami League using Khandaker Moshtaque and his accomplices continued after the independence following a direct US instigation, resulting in the carnage on August 15, 1975.

On basis of his 30 years' investigation that included interviews with the US sources, Moshtaque and others concerned, Lifschultz has written a series of that tale.

The first part of his four reports is published today.


The 30th anniversary of the August 15th military coup in Bangladesh powerfully illustrates the dictum of William Faulkner that the past is never dead, it is not even past. For those of us who lived through the years of Bangladesh's 'War of Independence' and the decade of the 1970s, we remember these dates as milestones of an era. They are markers on a road we traveled to a destination many did not reach.

After thirty years Bangladesh still lives with the legacy of the violent night of August 15th. Just over four years from that dark March night in 1971 when Pakistani Army troops rolled their tanks and armoured vehicles through the streets of Dhaka slaughtering their fellow countrymen instead of accepting the outcome of national elections they had agreed to accept, a small unit of the new Bangladesh Army invoking the sordid tradition of Pakistan Army staged a traditional military putsch.

Within hours, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, symbol for many of an ideal of liberation, was dead in a military coup d'etat that had run amok in a frenzy of killing. Mujib and almost his entire family were slaughtered including his wife and sons, the youngest only twelve. On that deadly night groups of soldiers broke into squads and traveled around the city killing relatives of Mujib's family.

The pregnant wife of one relation who attempted to intercede to save her husband's life was herself killed for her efforts. Mujib's two daughters were abroad and they survived with Sheikh Hasina years later becoming Prime Minister. Yet, only a year ago, she too was nearly assassinated in broad daylight by a hit squad that still "eludes" capture, demonstrating yet again Faulkner's insightthe past is not even past. It is very much present.

The political configuration that exists today is a direct descendant of August 15, 1975. The current Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia, was the wife of the late General Ziaur Rahman, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff in 1975, who played a crucial behind scenes role in the plotting that preceded the coup and in the events which followed.

At the American Embassy that night political and intelligence officers tried to monitor the unfolding events. But, there was one figure at the Embassy in the days that followed the coup who was particularly unsettled. A small knot had settled in his stomach. The events were an echo of what he had feared might happen months earlier and which he had made strenuous efforts to prevent.

I would meet this man in Washington three years later. He became a critical source for me and clearly hoped the information that he provided would one day lead to uncomfortable truths being revealed and those responsible being held accountable. For the first time in nearly thirty years I can identify this individual. I have been freed from a restraint of confidentiality that I have adhered to for almost three decades. But, be patient, with me a bit longer while I explain how and why I came to meet this individual.

I was one among many foreign correspondents covering the coup. Yet, I was the only journalist reporting these events for a major publication who had actually lived in Bangladesh as a journalist. I was the Dhaka correspondent of the Far Eastern Economic Review (Hong Kong) in 1974. The following year I moved to New Delhi and took up a new position as South Asia Correspondent for the Review. The violent death of Mujib would draw me into an inquiry that I could never have anticipated would, again and again, hold me in its sway at different stages of my life.

My unusual source who worked at the American Embassy that night would encourage me forward by his own honesty and quality of integrity. He was one of those unusual individuals one occasionally finds inhabiting an official bureaucracy. He was deeply distressed about the coup and the subsequent killings. He was a man with a conscience. Unlike the rest of us he knew something others did not and that knowledge tore at his conscience. It was this sense of ethical responsibility that brought us face-to-face in one of the more memorable encounters I had as young reporter.

After the coup against Mujib the official story put about by the successor regime and its minions in the Bangladesh press disturbed me. It didn't hold together. Moreover, the cracks began to reveal rather curious links and antecedents.

The version of events which emerged at the time was that six junior officers, with three hundred men under their command, had acted exclusively on their own in overthrowing Mujib. The motives for the coup were attributed to a combination of personal grudges held by certain of the officers against Mujib and his associates, together with a general mood of frustration at the widespread corruption that had come to characterize certain elements of Mujib's regime. In short, according to this view of events the coup was an ad hoc affair not a thought out plan a year or more in the making.

The morning Mujib and his family were killed, the figure installed by the young majors as President was Khandakar Mustaque Ahmed, generally considered to be the representative of a rightist faction within Mujib's own party, the Awami League. After the putsch, Mustaque remained impeccably reticent about any part he personally might have played in Mujib's downfall. He neither confirmed nor denied his prior involvement. He simply avoided any public discussion of the question and desperately attempted to stabilize his regime.

A year following the coup, after he had himself been toppled from power and before his own arrest on corruption charges, Mustaque denied to me in an interview at his home in the "Old City" of Dhaka that he had any prior knowledge of the coup plan or piror meetings with the army majors, who carried out the action. However, the majors who staged the military part of the coup and were forced into exile within four months by upheavals within the Bangladesh Army began to tell a different tale.

In interviews with journalists in Bangkok and elsewhere, bitter at their abandonment by their erstwhile sponsors and allies, the majors began to talk out of school. They confirmed prior meetings with Mustaque and his associates. A story began to emerge that Mustaque and his political friends had been involved for more than a year in a web of secret planning that would lead to the overthrow and death of Mujib.

A few months after the coup, a mid-level official at the U.S. Embassy told me that he was aware of serious tensions within the U.S. Embassy over what had happened in August. He said that there were stories circulating inside the Embassy that the CIA's Station Chief, Philip Cherry, had somehow been involved in the coup and that there was specific tension between Cherry and Eugene Boster, the American Ambassador. He had no specific details about the nature of this "tension" only that there were problems. "I understand," he said, "something happened that should not have happened." He urged me to dig further.

American involvement in the coup didn't make sense to me. In the United States, two Congressional Committees were gearing up to investigate illegal covert actions of the Central Intelligence Agency. The so-called Church and Pike Committee hearings in Washington on CIA assassinations of foreign leaders had begun. The committee hearings were having their own impact within the American diplomatic and intelligence bureaucracies creating great nervousness and anxiety. The American press was openly speculating that senior American intelligence officials might face imprisonment for illegal clandestine action in Chile and elsewhere.

It was the summer when citizens of the United States first heard acronyms like MONGOOSE, COINTELPRO, AM/LASH and elaborate details of assassination plots against Lumumba in the Congo, Castro in Cuba and Allende in Chile. The covert hand of American power had touched far and wide. Now the tip of the iceberg was publicly emerging so that for the first time Americans could take a clear look. Yet, all that was happening far away in Washington, in a muggy heat as sultry as any South Asian monsoon.

In India, Indira Gandhi, speaking of the tragedy of Mujib's death, spoke of the sure hand of foreign involvement. As usual, Mrs. Gandhi was graphically lacking in details or specifics. However, her avid supporters during those first nuptial days of India's Emergency, the pro-Moscow Communist Party of India (C.P.I.) were more explicit: the CIA said the CPI was behind the coup. I dismissed this as propaganda based on no specific evidence.

Yet, how had the coup happened? There were still huge gaps in my knowledge of how specific actors had traveled through the various mazes they had constructed to disguise their movements yet which ultimately led to August 15th. I was living in England nearly three years after the coup when I decided to make a trip to Washington to visit a colleague of mine, Kai Bird, who was then an editor with The Nation magazine, published from New York. Today he is a prominent American author.

Archaeologists have found evidence of mass cannibalism at a 7,000-year-old human burial site in south-west Germany, the journal Antiquity reports.

The authors say their findings provide rare evidence of cannibalism in Europe's early Neolithic period.

Up to 500 human remains unearthed near the village of Herxheim may have been cannibalised.

The "intentionally mutilated" remains included children and even unborn babies, the researchers say.

The German site was first excavated in 1996 and then explored again between 2005 and 2008.

Team leader Bruno Boulestin, from the University of Bordeaux in France, told BBC News that he and his colleagues had found evidence the human bones were deliberately cut and broken - an indication of cannibalism.

"We see patterns on the bones of animals indicating that they have been spit-roasted," he said. "We have seen some of these same patterns on the human bones [at this site]."

But Dr Boulestin stressed it was difficult to prove that these bones had been deliberately cooked.

Some scientists have rejected the cannibalism theory, suggesting that the removal of flesh could have been part of a burial ritual.

But Dr Boulestin said the human remains had been "intentionally mutilated" and that there was evidence many of them had been chewed.

The early Neolithic was the period when farming first spread in central Europe and the team believes that cannibalism in Europe was likely to have been exceptional - possibly carried out during periods of famine.

British Inquiry: Blair Conspired with Bush as Early as 2002 to Plot Iraq Invasion

 
Most Americans are blissfully in the dark about it, but across the Atlantic in the UK, a commission reluctantly established by Prime Minister Gordon Brown under pressure from anti-war activists in Britain is beginning hearings into the actions and statements of British leaders that led to the country’s joining the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Even before testimony began in hearings that started yesterday, news began to leak out from documents obtained by the commission that the government of former PM Tony Blair had lied to Parliament and the public about the country’s involvement in war planning.
Britain’s Telegraph newspaper over the weekend published documents from British military leaders, including a memo from British special forces head Maj. Gen. Graeme Lamb, saying that he had been instructed to begin “working the war up since early 2002.â€
This means that Blair, who in July 2002, had assured members of a House of Commons committee that there were “no preparations to invade Iraq,†was lying.
Things are likely to heat up when the commission begins hearing testimony. It has the power, and intends to compel testimony from top government officials, including Blair himself.
While some American newspapers, including the Philadelphia Inquirer, have run an Associated Press report on the new disclosures and on the commission, key news organizations, including the New York Times, have not. The Times ignored the Telegraph report, but a day later ran an article about the British commission that focused entirely on evidence that British military leaders in Iraq felt “slighted†by “arrogant†American military leaders who, the article reported, pushed for aggressive military action against insurgent groups, while British leaders preferred negotiating with them.
While that may be of some historical interest, it hardly compares with the evidence that Blair and the Bush/Cheney administration were secretly conspiring to invade Iraq as early as February and March 2002.
Recall that the Bush/Cheney argument to Congress and the American people for initiating a war against Iraq in the fall of 2002 was that Iraq was allegedly behind the 9-11 attacks and that it posed an “imminent†danger of attack against the US and Britain with its alleged weapons of mass destruction.
Of course, such arguments, which have subsequently been shown to have been bogus, would have had no merit if the planning began a year earlier, and if no such urgency was expressed by the two leaders at that time. Imminent, after all, means imminent, and if Blair, Bush and Cheney had genuinely thought an attack with WMDs was imminent back in the early days of the Bush administration, they would have been acting immediately, not secretly conjuring up a war scheduled for a year later. (The actual invasion began on March 19, 2003).
As I documented in my book, The Case for Impeachment, there is plenty of evidence that Bush and Cheney had a scheme to put the US at war with Iraq even before Bush took office on Jan. 20, 2001. Then Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill in his own tell-all book, The Price of Loyalty, written after he was dumped from the Bush Administration, recounts that at the first meeting of Bush’s new National Security Council, the question of going to war and ousting Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was on the agenda.
Immediately after the 9-11 attacks, NSC anti-terrorism program czar Richard Clarke also recalled Bush ordering him to “find a link†to Iraq. Meanwhile, within days, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was ordering top generals to prepare for an Iraq invasion. Gen. Tommy Franks, who was heading up the military effort in Afghanistan that was reportedly closing in on Osama Bin Laden, found the rug being pulled out from under him as Rumsfeld began shifting troops out of Afghanistan and to Kuwait in preparation for the new war.
It is nothing less than astonishing that so little news of the British investigation into the origins of the illegal Iraq War is being conveyed to Americans by this country’s corporate media—yet another example demonstrating that American journalism is dead or dying.
It is even more astonishing that neither the Congress nor the president here in America is making any similar effort to put America’s leaders in the dock to tell the truth about their machinations in engineering a war that has cost the US over $1 trillion (perhaps $3 trillion eventually when debt payments and the cost of veterans care is added in), and over 4000 lives, not to mention as many as one million innocent Iraqi lives.

Design and Optimization of Advanced District Heating Systems

The PhD stipend is available within the general study programme “Mechanical Engineeringâ€.

The PhD stipend is available within the general study programme Mechanical Engineering with special emphasis on implementation of advanced technologies for sustainable production and distribution of heat in district heating systems. The stipend is funded by the research project FlexEnergi, in which Aalborg University is collaborating with a number of regional producers and distributors of district heating as well as consulting engineers and local governments.
The PhD project will focus on designing and implementing a modular laboratory test facility, in which a number of sustainable production and distribution technologies can be incorporated, and where different combinations hereof, as well as optimization and control algorithms can be implemented and tested, before upscaling to full scale implementation. The components of the test facility will be selected according to the design studies already defined in the FlexEnergi project. Furthermore, the PhD project will focus on full scale implementation of the tested technologies and control principles, and the consequences of these in a more societal context, where also market drivers should be included. In order to facilitate this multi-disciplinary approach, the project will be supervised jointly by researchers from the Department of Planning and Development as well as the Department of Energy Technology.

Qualifications:
The PhD position is open to persons holding a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, energy planning and management or equivalent. It is important that the applicant possesses good communication skills, and has a very good command of spoken and written English. Furthermore, candidates who can provide documentation of a combination of technical and planning/development competences will be preferred.



Qualification requirements:
PhD stipends are allocated to individuals who hold a Masters degree. PhD stipends are normally for a period of 3 years. It is a prerequisite for allocation of the stipend that the candidate will be enrolled as a PhD student at the Doctoral School of the Faculties of Engineering, Science and Medicine, in accordance with the regulations of Ministerial Order No. 18 of January 14, 2008 on the PhD Programme at the Universities. According to the Ministerial Order, the progress of the PhD student shall be assessed every six months. It is a prerequisite for continuation of salary payment that the previous progress is approved at the time of the evaluation.

The Prophet's face became strained with sorrow and concern. He looked at them with compassion. Then he stood up, turned and went into his house. After a while, he returned and instructed Bilâl to call the people to prayer. Then the Prophet led the Muslims in the Noon Prayer.



Afterwards, he stood at the pulpit and recited verses of the Qur'ân which exhort to goodwill and charity. Then he said: "A man should donate some of his gold or silver, or a container of flour, or a container of dates…" until he finally appealed "…or even if but half a date." In this way, he encouraged all the Muslims to give what they could.



He then took his seat and waited for his Companions to help out their brothers who had come to them in such straitened circumstances. No one acted immediately. The minutes of inaction seemed long and heavy. The Prophet's displeasure with such a response could be seen on his face.



Then a man from the natives of Madinah came forward with a large purse full of silver so big he was barely able to carry it in both his hands. He said: "Messenger of Allah! This is for the sake of Allah."



By taking the initiative, he broke the heavy spell of silence and inactivity, for right then, Abû Bakr stood up and made a donation. Then `Umar came forward with charity. Then everyone came forward with what they could give of food, clothing, and money. The Prophet's face shone with joy as looked at the pile of food and clothing that had been placed before him.



However, his attention was drawn more strongly to that man who had been the first to give and in doing so broke the impasse of hesitation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then said: "Whoever sets a good precedent in Islam will have the blessing for doing so as well as the blessing for everyone who acts upon it thereafter, without their blessings being diminished in the least. And whoever sets an evil precedent in Islam will have the sin for doing so as well as the sin of everyone who acts upon it thereafter, without their sis being diminished in the least." [Sahîh Muslim: (1017)]



From this event, we can draw valuable lessons regarding the importance, in Islamic work, of taking initiative and of setting practical and conspicuous examples.



We can see the effect the native of Madinah had on everyone else by his taking the initiative and bringing that bag of silver to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The people had been hesitating. However, after the people saw someone make a conspicuous donation, they all rushed to follow suit. It may be true that some of them may have given substantially more than he did, but it was his setting the precedent that got them to do so. This is the reason why the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed him that those who set a good precedent receive the blessings of all those who follow suit. He was, in effect, congratulating that man for taking the initiative.



We also learn from the story that we do not have to be famous celebrities or prominent people for our initiative to count. We do not even know the name of the man who brought the first bag of silver. All we know is that he was a native of Madinah. Nevertheless, he set a precedent that was immediately followed by the two most eminent citizens of the Muslim community – Abû Bakr and `Umar.



Therefore, we should never feel that we are too unimportant or insignificant to set a public example. That unnamed man did not get intimidated by the presence of those community leaders. He was not shy to be the first person to do something good. By being bold, he received the blessings of Abû Bakr, `Umar, and all the other important – and sometimes extremely wealthy – people who gave their donations after him.



In fact, taking the initiative is often what makes people successful. If we look at the lives of great leaders, people of influence, and reformers, we find that those lives are a series of positive initiatives. This is how they became so influential, and this is why they were able to have an enduring legacy.



Doing a good deed in public to set a good precedent is not the same as doing it for personal fame. It is something we do purely for Allah's sake. It is not showing off to do a good deed conspicuously with the sincere intention of teaching people what is right, or for setting a good example, or for publicizing a public welfare program to make it a success. It is, in fact, a good way of calling people to Allah.



Sometimes, the worst thing we can do is fail to do a good deed out of shyness or fear of being seen by others. Al-Fudayl b. `Iyâd said: "Abandoning good deeds because of the people is showing off."

Figuring out exactly how 9/11 was done is the work of crime investigators or conspiracy hobbyists who will endlessly go on discussing and debating every minuscule and intricate detail of the event to no avail. It doesn’t take a structural engineer to tell you that two 110 story buildings and a 47 story steel skyscraper plummeting to the ground at nearly free-fall speed requires the assistance of explosives. All you need is two eyes that can see and a brain that thinks to come to that sound conclusion. This is why it is of my opinion that more emphasis should be placed on the “who†instead of the “howâ€. It should be obvious to anyone that discovering ‘who did 9/11′ is infinitely more important than discovering how they did it.
An Uncanny Prediction Comes True
First we start off with an unusual and eerie prediction that was made by a most suspicious individual. This prediction, in unison with the status of the person of who made it, is extremely indicative and foretelling of who planned and executed 9/11.

In 1979, twenty-one years before September 11, 2001, Isser Harel predicted with uncanny accuracy the events of 9-11 to Michael D. Evans, an American supporter of Zionist extremists of the Jabotinsky sort.
On September 23, 1979, Evans visited Harel at his home in Israel and had dinner with him and Dr. Reuven Hecht, a senior adviser to then prime minister Menachem Begin.
In an editorial entitled “America the Targetâ€, published in the Jerusalem Post of September 30, 2001 Evans — a Khazar Jew masquerading as a Christian — asked Harel about Arab terrorism and if it would come to America. Harel told Evans that Arab terrorists would likely strike the “tallest building in New York City†because it was a “phallic symbolâ€. Securing Control of World Trade Center Complex

The first step in the preparation of the 9/11 attacks was to secure the control of the WTC into private hands. This was crucial to the success of 9/11 because without complete control over this complex there would be no opportunity or possibility of setting explosive charges in place as the coup de gras in bringing the towers to the ground.

Larry explains his reason for purchasing the towers as “I felt a compelling urge to own them.†Is this a believable reason coming from a supposed successful businessman? Larry had breakfast in “Windows on the World†restaurant (located in North Tower 107th Floor) every single morning. Larry was absent from this routine meeting on the morning of September the 11th. Larry’s two offspring, who also worked in the WTC, also conveniently decided to take the day off. Either the Silverstein family is clairvoyant, or then knew exactly what was going down that day. Take your pick. Larry Silverstein scored more than $4.5 Billion in insurance money as a result of the destruction of his complex. Silverstein was personal friends with key player in Zionist controlled media Rupert Murdoch, former Israeli president & infamous Zionist war criminal Ariel Sharon, as well as Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Silverstein was such good friends with Benjamin Netanyahu that he would receive a phone call from him every single sunday.

2) Frank Lowy– Lowy, a Czechoslovakia born Jew, was the owner of Westfield America, one of the biggest shopping mall conglomerates in the world. Lowy leased the shopping concourse area called the Mall at the World Trade Center, made up of approximately 427,000 square feet of retail floor space. Frank Lowy has quite an interesting history. He was a member of the Golani Brigade, and fought in the Israeli war of independence. Before this he was a member of Hagganah, a Jewish terrorist organization. Frank Lowy spends three months of the year at his home in Israel and has been described by the Sydney Morning Herald as “a self-made man with a strong interest in the Holocaust and Israeli politics.†He funded and launched the Israeli Institute for National Strategy and Policy, which will “operate within the framework of Tel Aviv University†in Israel. He is also close friends with many top Israeli officials such as Ehud Olmert, Ariel Sharon, Bibi Netanyahu, and Ehud Barak. He was also implicated in an Israeli Bank Scandal with Olmert. 3) Lewis Eisenberg — This Jewish criminal personality was the head of the Port Authority of New York and authorized the lease transfer to his Zionist brethren Larry and Lowy. Eisenberg was a large contributor to the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign, as well as a partner in the Jewish bank Goldman-Sachs. Eisenberg has been both a member of the Planning Board of the United Jewish Appeal/United Jewish Federation pro-Israeli government pressure group in the U.S.
WTC Privatization

4) Ronald Lauder – Billionaire Estee Lauder Cosmetics magnate. He was the chairman of NY Governor George Pataki’s commission on privatization. He is the key individual who lobbied for the privatization of the WTC (Source, 9th pp) — but he also got the former Stewart Air Force Base to become privatized. Oddly, the flight paths of flight 175 and flight 11 converged directly over this airport.
Lauder is active in the following organizations: Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jewish National Fund, World Jewish Congress, American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Anti-Defamation League, Jewish Theological Seminary. Ronald Lauder was elected president of the World Jewish Congress on 10 June, 2007.
Lauder founded a school for the Mossad in Herzliya, Israel called the Lauder School of Government Diplomacy and Strategy. He is the key Sayan involved in the preparation of 9/11.
WTC Security In Zionist Hands
The second crucial aspect of control that needed to be established in order to pull off 9/11 was to gain control of security of the WTC complex. This way, Mossad explosive experts — that just so happened to be in town just prior to and on 9/11 — could be readily allowed access to strategic areas of the buildings in order to prep for the demolitions.
The contract to run security at the WTC was designated to Kroll Associates after the 1993 wtc bombing. Kroll is otherwise known as a “Wallstreets CIAâ€.
Who gave them the contract?
The Port Authority of New York paid them $2.5 million to revamp security at the complex. The owners of Kroll was two Zionist Jews named Jules & Jeremy Kroll.

A hardly known fact is that Jerome Hauer is the one who advised the WhiteHouse to go on the anti-biotic effective against Anthrax — Cipro — a week prior to the mailings. How convenient.
How did he know?
Hauer is an ‘expert’ in Bio-Terrorism and was the one who was in charge of the NIH response to the anthrax attacks. His reactions to the anthrax mailings were ‘very slow’ to say the least, and he took every opportunity to invoke “Osama Bin Laden†in his rhetoric.
Who Killed John O’neil?

Amazingly, O’neil was killed on his FIRST day of work — 9/11.

Cole attack in Yemen was obstructed & sabotaged by U.S ambassador to Yemen, Zionist Barbara Bodine. This is because the U.S.S. Cole was NOT done by Al Qaeda. The USS Cole was hit by an Israeli cruise missile(Source, 39th pp) to sway public opinion against Arabs (Al Qaeda), as well as demonize the democrats (didn’t take terror threat seriously) — so that their puppet George Bush Jr. could be hurled into office in time for 9/11. Airport Security
The third crucial aspect of control that needed to be established was to gain control of airport security at all of the airports that the hijackings would originate from. Passenger screening needed to be handled by their operatives in order to allow certain people & certain items (i.e. weapons) onto the planes.
Who ran airport secuirty at all three ports of alleged hijackings?

ICTS was also in charge of airport security when the shoe bomber, Richard Reid, allegedly boarded a plane with a shoe bomb. If Reid is really a terrorist and not just an innocent man being used by the Mossad to incite more fear of terrorism, then why did ICTS let him board the plane knowing he could be dangerous?
Another point indicating ICTS’s complicity is that a few hours before the Patriot Act was voted on, it was edited to make foreign companies in charge of security on 9/11 immune to lawsuits. This would prevent American courts from demanding that ICTS provide testimony or hand over the missing surveillance videos from the airports.

Gomel Chesed Cemetary Incident

In October 2000, approximately 11 months before 9/11, a retired Israeli Defense Forces(IDF) officer, and veteran of the Yom Kippur War(1973), was collecting English Ivy Cuttings at the Gomel Chesed Cemetery located at Mccellan and 245 Mount Olive Avenue, which is near the city lines of Elizabeth and Newark, New Jersey. The Gomel Chesed Cemetary is a Jewish cemetary.
The man overheard a couple of people having what he believed to be a conversation spoken in Hebrew, which drew his attention. He hid behind an 8-foot tall retaining wall and listened in to their conversation as they stood below. Shortly after a Lincoln town car approached the two people — presumably Israelis — and the man in the backseat got out to greet them. After normal niceties were exchanged the third man said:
“The Americans will learn what it is to live with terrorists after the planes hit the twins in September.â€
One of the men that had been leaning against the retaining wall expressed concerns regarding whether the upcoming presidential election (November 2000) could impact the plans. The man that arrived in the Town Car pacified the doubts by saying:
“Don’t worry, we have people in high places and no matter who gets elected, they will take care of everything.â€
The observer who overheard this conversation related it to the FBI on numerous occasions only to be ignored each time. Nothing was done about it, and no investigation into the incident has ever took place.

Israeli instant messaging company, Odigo, admitted that two of its employees received instant messages warning of an impeding attack 2 hours prior to the first plane hitting.
This warning was not passed on to authorities, which could have saved thousands of lives.
Odigo has a feature on its service that allows the passing on of messages through a search feature based on nationality, such as Israeli. Knowing these two particular Israelis were forewanred, it is very likely they passed the message on to other Israelis considering that out of the 4000 Israelis believed to be in and around the WTC and the Pentagon only FIVE died. 5/4000 Israelis. Mathematically (if Israelis were not forewarned) about 10% (400/4000) would have died; even as low as 200-300/4000 would not really indicate foreknowledge. Yet only FIVE Israelis died and two of the five were actually aboard the supposedly hijacked flights; therefore only three Israelis died at the WTC on 9/11. An astonishing feat. We’re talking about ‘Israelis’ here, not ‘American Jews’. Many Jews died in the wtc on 9/11.
Odigo has offices in New York, and in Herzliya, Israel. Herzliya happens to be the Head Quarters of Mossad. Do the math.
Odigo was later bought up by another Israeli company called Comverse. The CEO of Comverse was Kobi Alexander, “dual†Israeli-US citizen, with connections to Mossad. He has been charged on several counts of fraud.

With ZIM Israel bailing out just in time, this left one Israeli company, Clearforest, with 19 employees, in the WTC on 9/11. Of the five employees in the building all managed to escape.

The men were detained by NYPD. The police and FBI field agents became very suspicious when they found maps of the city with certain places highlighted, box cutters (the same items that the hijackers supposedly used), $4700 cash stuffed in a sock, and foreign passports. Police also told the Bergen Record that bomb sniffing dogs were brought to the van and that they reacted as if they had smelled explosives. (#)

According to ABC News 20/20, after the group of Israelis were detained, the driver of the van — Sivan Kurzberg — told the officers:

Witnesses reported they were set up PRIOR to the first plane strike, and were seen congratulating one another afterward. The five jubilant Israelis were also seen photographing one another. The FBI seized and developed their photos, one of which shows Sivan Kurzberg flicking a cigarette lighter in front of the smoldering ruins in an apparently celebratory gesture.

Truck Bomb Destined for George Washington Bridge

The Jerusalem Post later reported that a white van with a bomb was stopped as it approached the George Washington Bridge, but the ethnicity of the suspects was not revealed. Here’s what the Jerusalem Post reported on September 12, 2001:
American security services overnight stopped a car bomb on the George Washington Bridge. The van, packed with explosives, was stopped on an approach ramp to the bridge. Authorities suspect the terrorists intended to blow up the main crossing between New Jersey and New York, Army Radio reported.

One of the more bizarre events of the day came in the form of a mysterious white van parked a few blocks away from the twin towers on 6th and King Street., that had a mural painted on the side that literally depicted a jetliner crashing into the twin towers and exploding.
 
This police audio transmission indicates that the two suspects in the van started to run away when the van was stopped and were apprehended shortly thereafter in some sort of struggle. The police recording also indicates that the mural van subsequently exploded following the detainment of the two suspects.
Further corroboration of this incident came in the form of a reference in the February 2006 Norman Y. Mineta International Institute for Surface Transportation Policy Studies (MTI) report entitled: “Saving City Lifelines: Lessons Learned in the 9-11 Terrorist Attacksâ€.The relevant quote is as follows:
“There were continuing moments of alarm. A panel truck with a painting of a plane flying into the World Trade Center was stopped near the temporary command post. It proved to be rented to a group of ethnic Middle Eastern people who did not speak English. Fearing that it might be a truck bomb, the NYPD immediately evacuated the area, called out the bomb squad, and detained the occupants until a thorough search was made. The vehicle was found to be an innocent delivery truck.â€
As you can see the cover-up of the incident clearly ensues in this document. Apparently the people who wrote this didn’t find it odd that a delivery truck rented to “ethnic middle easterners†was painted up with a mural depicting the very events of the day! The idiocy of their conclusion that this van was an “innocent delivery truck†is beyond words. Also notice no mention of it exploding as the police transmission confirms. The “ethnic middle easterners†referenced in this quote were certainly not Arabic individuals as there is not a single mention of this incident in the 9/11 commission report. If they were Arabs there would be no reason to cover this up. The fact that this incident was covered up is a strong indication that these “ethnic middle easterners†were in fact Israelis.

All of the white vans were working for the ostensible moving company Urban Moving Systems under direction of Dominic Suter, an Israeli Spy who immediately fled to Israel after the attacks. It was confirmed by two former CIA officers that this Israeli moving company was a front operation for the Mossad. The two CIA sources noted that movers vans are a common intelligence cover. The Israelis were held in custody for 71 days before being quietly released.

On October 16, 2001 a group of Israelis were arrested in rural Pennsylvania for suspicious behavior behind a Pizzeria Uno. The manager of the store informed authorities of two middle eastern looking men dumping furniture out of a tractor-trailor with “Moving Systems Incorporated†sign on the side, behind his restaurant.
Police found the van and confronted its occupant who identified himself as Ron Katar, an Israeli. Katar pointed across the street to his compatriot named Mosche Almakias who was approaching the detained van with a female named Ayelet Reisler. Reisler suspiciously began to walk in a different direction once she spotted the police officer. She was found to have a German passport in one name and medication in another.
Elmakias admitted being behind the Pizzeria and said his destination was New York, but he had to make a pickup in Plymouth. However, the clever cover story began to fall apart as he could not provide a name or number of this client.
The police searched the van and discovered a Sony video camera containing a video taken of Chicago with several suspicious zoom-in shots of the Sears tower. Clearly these Mossad assets were planning some sort of false flag attack.These Israelis were eventually taken in by the INS and it was never heard about again.

On Monday May 13, 2002, Fox News reported that two Israeli nationals in a white van were pulled over in Oak Harbour, Washington, near the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station with explosives in their truck.
Federal Authorities brought in bomb sniffing dogs which reacted first on one of the Israelis and later on the van. High tech equipment was later used and confirmed the prescence of TNT and RDX plastic explosive. The Israelis claimed to be delivering furniture to California but investigators doubted the story. Authorities say records for the Budget truck do not indicate any recent rental for the purposes of transporting explosives, which would require special permits; thus proving these explosives were illegal and obviously intended to be used for malicious purposes.
The Fox News article makes no mention to what became of these two Israeli terrorists which pretty much means they were quietly released.

Conclusion
After reading this webpage most people who are familiar with 9/11 conspiracy information will without a doubt have a knee-jerk reaction and consider this piece to be very biased. Why do I focus on the Israeli angle and the Jewish conspirators? Well… why do most 9/11 “truthers†avoid that angle and refuse to talk about it? Am I denying that the CIA or MI6 was also involved in the attacks? No, certainly not. It is my opinion that Israel and its agents in the U.S. Government played the biggest role in the attacks and had the most to gain from them; therefore, I focus more on the Israeli/Jewish/Zionist connection, while others will focus more on CIA or MI6 connection. There are plenty of websites, documentaries, and articles that go on and on about “Bush & Cheney, U.S. Gov’t, etc, etc†but nobody seems to want to acknowledge the rock solid evidence proving 9/11 was most likely done by the Israeli Mossad in conjunction with the plethora of Zionist American Jews whose duplicitous role in the attacks has been thoroughly documented. It is up to you to decide whether this information is valid or not, and whether you want to believe it. If you are about the truth then you would have no problem accepting this information. Picking and choosing what you want to believe is not what truth is about. You should always follow the trail of truth wherever it leads!

Seventeen years after the Babri Masjid [ Images ] was pulled down, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Saturday said there was no question for the Sangh to regret for what had happened and maintained that their full support to the "Ram temple movement" would continue.
Addressing a meet-the-press programme in Chandigarh, Bhagwat said the pulling down of the structure was not any conspiracy, but a spontaneous reaction from the Kar Sewaks "whose sentiments and emotions had been hurt".
"Whatever happened was connected with the movement for the construction of the Ram temple. The sentiments of the Kar Sewaks were hurt that also included many Muslims. So the question for the RSS to regret does not arise," he said.
Without naming any one he said, "Afsos jinko karma chahiye woh karein" (those who ought to regret, should do so).
When asked to name any prominent Muslim leader who participated in the 'Kar Sewa' on December 6, the day when the Mosque was brought down, Bhagwat said, "There were many Muslims. Prominent names that I can remember include (senior Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] leader) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and another leader from Mumbai [ Images ] Muzaffar Hussain."
He stressed that the Sangh's full support to the Ram temple movement, which was being run by Sant Mahatama religious leaders, will continue as it had extended its support in the past. "The Sangh works as per their direction," he added.
"Whether Ram temple will be built with the support of the government or through any court directive or by change of heart (consensus among different sections of people), but we are committed to this (the movement for its construction)," he said.
He said in fact after the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition the interaction of the Sangh with other communities, including the Muslims and the Christians increased.
"Our intentions are clear. We have no enemity with any community," Bhagwat said, adding that the Sangh has not been properly understood by the people.
"To understand the Sangh one has to come in its fold for a couple of years. The taste of sugar is felt only after eating it," he said.
Bhagwat said that propaganda against the Sangh is also creating misconceptions about the organisation. "Now the misconceptions about the Sangh are being removed," he said adding that his media interaction, the first meet-the-Press programme by any RSS Sanchalak was also a step in the direction of clearing the misconceptions.

The government has formally given a burial to its theory that Ulfa chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa surrendered before Indian authorities to facilitate a peace talk. In the papers filed by the prosecution before the chief judicial magistrate, while demanding Rajkhowa’s police custody, said that the Ulfa leader and his associates were arrested in Bangladesh and handed over to the Indian side as an “illegal migrantâ€.

ET had on Saturday reported that Rajkhowa, Ulfa’s deputy commander in chief Raju Baruah, along with their families were picked by RAW from Cox’s Bazaar in Chittaagong on last Wednesday while trying to cross over to Myanmar for escaping the crackdown on insurgent groups by Bangladesh. The charges pressed against Rajkhowa by the prosecution was one relating to a 1998 extortion case and some provisions of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, for which the CJM has remanded him to police custody for 12 days.

Ulfa’s self-claimed foreign and finance secretaries - Sasha Chaudhary and Chitraban Hazarika, were similarly picked by Bangladesh authorities from Uttara area of Dhaka and handed over to BSF at Gakul Nagar in Tripura along Indo-Bangladesh border.

One of the founder members of Ulfa and its general secretary Anup Chetia aka Golap Baruah could not be handed over to India despite the present regime promising not to allow its territory be used by militants inimical to India. Chetia was arrested in 1997 in Dhaka under Foreigners Act and Passport Act, both indicating that he was treated as an illegal migrant. Since, he was convicted under these two Acts and sentenced to imprisonment, he could not be handed over to India and continues to be in prison there despite his appeal to United National High Commission on Refugees for grant of political asylum in Bangladesh.

Rajkhowa was under RAW surveillance for over 3 months. It had trailed him from Dhaka before intercepting him at Cox’s Bazaar. In all ten were picked up and 3 of them were of Ulfa.

European Union plan to call for the division of Jerusalem : A Step Forward ?

 


The Foreign Ministry of Israel on Tuesday lashed out at a European Union plan to call for the division of Jerusalem between Israel and the Palestinians, saying such a move would harm the chances of renewing Middle East peace negotiations. EU foreign ministers are expected to issue an official call next week for Jerusalem to be divided, in order to serve as the capitals of both Israel and a Palestinian state. A draft document authored by the current holder of the rotating EU presidency, Sweden, and implying that the EU would recognize a unilateral Palestinian declaration of statehood, has been obtained by Haaretz. "The process being led by Sweden harms the European Union's ability to take part as a significant mediator in the political process between Israel and the Palestinians," said a statement by Israel's Foreign Ministry.

 

 


"Israel is  waging a diplomatic campaign to keep the EU from issuing such an endorsement, but diplomats close to the EU deliberations believe it is almost inevitable.
The EU foreign ministers are scheduled to meet on December 7 for a two-day meeting in Brussels on the peace process, after which a statement outlining the body's Mideast policy is expected. The Swedish draft represents the first official EU articulation of a solution for one of the core issues of the final-status arrangement between Israel and the Palestinians. The document expressed the EU's concern over the stalemate in the peace process and calls for the immediate renewal of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority in accordance with a prescribed timetable. The goal, it states, is "an independent, democratic, contiguous and viable state of Palestine, comprising the West Bank and Gaza and with East Jerusalem as its capital." The draft refers directly to the situation in East Jerusalem, calling on "all parties to refrain from provocative actions" and stating the EU Council "has never recognized the annexation of East Jerusalem. If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found to resolve the status of Jerusalem as capital of two states. The Council calls for the reopening of Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem in accordance with the road map. It also calls on the Israeli government to cease all discriminatory treatment of Palestinians in East Jerusalem."  On the issue of borders, the document states that the EU will not accept any changes made by Israel to the 1967 borders unless they have PA approval. The EU, it says, welcomes PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad's proposal of a unilateral declaration of statehood and would "be able, at the appropriate time, to recognize a Palestinian state."

If EU does take this stand it will be a step forward.We are simply at a loss why common place things require so much time for Europe or US to understand. Why negotiation require so much time for solving the Palestinian issue. The main party is Arabs or Palestinians. The Israel or Israelis are primarily a foreign imported group which has been established by the West by force and by their totally dominated UN in 1948.Why it would take time to settle the border when West Bank borders are well-known, when it is basic right of all to return to homeland, when settlements in West Bank are all illegal? It is a total failure of western morality in international relations. We hope the West realizes their colossal failures and immorality even late.

"The first two or three days it was crazy. We don't have cars in our village, so when I saw a car I had to jump this way and that. And my head is full of a terrible buzzing sound."
 

Haran Mondols, 53, was forced to move his extended family of 17 to Dhaka to look for work, after cyclone Aila drowned their village in southern Bangladesh in May.Haran used to be a wealthy man with five houses for his clan - all are now gone. Now they live in a group of huts on the perimeter of the international airport.

 

He clutches his head in despair as he talks about their situation: "The things we lost we couldn't make again even if we tried for 50 years. All I can think about is what we will do, what will happen to our children. I can't eat, I can't sleep because of thinking about all of this."
 
Back in the village Haran's family were craft workers, weaving baskets. Now they shine shoes on the streets of Dhaka, a city of 15 million people. Because of the cost of living, even the children, who were at school before the cyclone came, have to work.
 
Every morning 11-year-old Ruhi walks an hour into the centre of Dhaka. He misses school. "I have to work all day in the sun so I don't feel good. My father said I should do this work and when everything is okay back in the village I can go back and study. I would like to go back, to school. I want to be a teacher and have my own school."
 
The family are desperate to return to their village, but like much of the area hit by Aila, it is still underwater. Haran's brother Kenna says the area is being abandoned. "It's not just us that is leaving, many people have left our village. It's just water there now. Even the earth our houses stood on has been washed away."

PARIS – As the debate rages on in the western European country on burka, a leading Muslim scholar has said that France’s efforts to ban the loose body-covering reflects growing self-doubts inside the society.
"This is a society that has doubts about itself,” Tariq Ramadan told a parliamentary panel mulling a burka ban Wednesday, December 2, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP).
“For me, this commission is born of a real self-doubt, and suddenly they're looking at one element, at the most extreme slice.
"The problem won't be solved like that."
A debate has been raging in France over burka since Communist MP Andre Gerin proposed a parliamentary probe into whether to ban the wearing.
President Nicolas Sarkozy has weighed in the controversy, saying the burka was "not welcome" in secular France.
The parliamentary panel has invited the Muslim scholar to a hearing on burka before formulating recommendations in a much-awaited report to be presented next month.
According to AFP, there are no figures on the number of women who wear the full-body covering in France -- and whether it is on the rise.
Muslim community leaders say that burka remains a rare exception among France's nearly seven million Muslims, the biggest Muslim minority in Europe.
They have accused lawmakers of wasting time by focusing on a fringe phenomenon, warning that the move would stigmatize the Muslim minority.

Ramadan, a professor Islamic studies in at Oxford, said France was failing to address the real problems facing French Muslims by debating a burka ban.
"This debate surrounding the burka bothers me," said the Swiss-born scholar.
"Because in the end, this is not the question that needs to be raised.
"The real problem is that when you have a name that is a bit Arab-sounding, or Muslim by affiliation, you are not going to get a job or you are not going to get an apartment," he said.
The Paris-based anti-racism group SOS-Racism said recently that some French recruitment companies are applying racist policies and ethnic profiling in hiring, filtering out non-white candidates.
A 2007 UN fact-finding mission warned that France's ethnic minorities are trapped in social and economic "ghettos" because of an "insidious racism" tolerated by politicians.
Ramadan, who was chosen by the influential Foreign Policy magazine as one of the 100 top global thinkers in 2009, acknowledged that some women are forced to wear the head-to-toe garment.
"Clearly, there are men who put pressure on women — not just men, but the social context and social ghettoization that leads some women to wear the full-body garb,” he said.
"But a law (to ban it) is the wrong solution."
France was the country that sparked a heated debate across Europe over Muslim women hijab after it banned it in state schools in 2004.
While scholars agree that a woman is not obliged to wear the niqab or burka, Hijab is an obligatory code of dress for Muslim women.
“All of this commotion over the burka does tell ordinary citizens that there is something wrong with Islam and leads to stigmatisation,” he said.
France’s burka debate came back to the fore this week after Switzerland voted in a referendum to ban minarets, putting Muslims’ place in Europe again in the headlines.
"Switzerland is going to open the way for (Europe's) relations with Islam for the next 50 years," he said.
"That's scary."

Pakistan was not created by its provinces signing a contract as the Press Release mischievously suggests, it is the product of the struggle by the Muslims of British India for a homeland comprising areas – provinces, parts of provinces and princely states - where the Muslims were in majority. The British had accepted that the Muslims were a separate nation as early as 1905 thus making the Two Nation theory the foundation of the political order upon British exit. But the Hindus had been insisting that: 1) all citizens of British India were one nation; 2) since democracy is majority rule, the British should hand over power to the Congress Party that represented the nation and leave; 3) that the untouchables who were 65% of the population, who are not Hindu as they are not even allowed to enter Hindu temples, should be counted as Hindus because Gnadhiji had embraced them by living in Bhanghi colonies (slums outside all towns where the untouchables were condemned to live under strict apartheid).  

 

The Muslim leaders pointed out that India was not a country but an empire brought together and ruled by Muslims for 800 years followed by the British creating an empire which was a patchwork of provinces and states over a hundred years from 1757 to 1857. They demanded that the principle of ‘majority rule’ should be applied to every province and princely state separately. The wording of the 1940 Resolution, called the Pakistan Resolution, reflects that demand. Since the land (state land) belonged to the province or the princely state, many Muslims as well as non-Muslims were opposed to territorial partition of the provinces. The 1940 Resolution, therefore, embraces both situations: 1) the Punjab, Bengal and Assam not being partitioned and all provinces and princely states of British India to inherit sovereignty before they decided to pool it to make a Muslim majority Pakistan and Hindu majority India; 2) the three provinces with nearly equal number of Muslims and non Muslims to be partitioned and a Muslim majority Pakistan set up from the outset. The Cabinet Mission Plan of 1946 was based on the first situation. India was visualised to be a federation of three groups of provinces one Hindu in the middle and two Muslim – one in the West and the other in the East comprising Bengal and Assam. The Cabinet Mission Plan was accepted by the Muslim League as well as the Congress Party. Then, Pandit Nehru announced that any commitment made prior to hand over of power would not be binding on the new Constituent Assembly.

 

Realising that the Congress Party was neither willing to give sovereignty to the provinces or to Muslim majority groups of provinces, it was unacceptable to leave the matter to the discretion of a future assembly where the Hindus were to be in overwhelming majority. The Muslim leadership rejected the Cabinet Mission Plan and British India was partitioned on the basis of the Two Nation Theory with Muslim majority areas becoming Pakistan. However, the British, being British, left two problems that have kept India and Pakistan locked into hostility and India in turmoil. The first problem is over Jammu and Kashmir created by last British Viceroy Lord Mountbatten who conspired with Indian Prime Minister - Pandit Nehru - to rob the Muslim majority state of Jammu and Kashmir its wish to join Pakistan and facilitate the occupation of the bulk of it by the Indian Army. The other problem relates to the indigenous peoples of – the tribal peoples and the untouchables. They are 65% of the population of India; they are not Hindus but are annexed by Hinduism just as imperial powers annexed territories. The Leader of the Muslims- Mohammed Ali Jinnah – wanted the principle of majority rule to the provinces and separate electorate to all the peoples of British India for the sake of the untouchables repressed by the high castes over thousands of years and liberated only by embracing Islam or Christianity.

 

India is interested in misrepresenting the nature and the intent of the1940 Resolution for two reasons: 1) it wants the outlook of Pakistanis to be ethnicised and the role of Islam as its unifying polity undermined; 2) the indigenous peoples of India who see Pakistan as their role model may be dissuaded from embracing Pakistan for help citing the example of alienation of the Sindhis and Baloch. It is indeed a big challenge for Pakistan to guard its sovereignty against the many threats it faces; liberate Jammu and Kashmir; and be a source of inspiration and help to those who suffer apartheid and denial of the right of national self determination in India.

PAKISTAN: Sindh and the Right of Self Determination

As we all know that Pakistan is not a naturally grown country, rather a man-made state that came into existence through a contract between different people. And that contract, everyone knows, is the 1940 Lahore resolution; also called the Pakistan resolution.

In civilized world, for different peoples to live together, a social contract happens to be the guiding and binding force. And to work together, make progress and live in peace and harmony that social contract is mandatory to be followed while in a country like Pakistan that itself came into existence through a contract, strict compliance to this social contract becomes even more important and necessary.

But regretfully, it is to be said that the Pakistani state has traversed in wrong direction since day one. In fact the story of Pakistan is a story of violations, breaches, and betrayals. The first and foremost violation came with regard to the ‘Pakistan Resolution’ of 1940 when the new state was created as per 1935 India Act. After few days that (1935) Act also stood violated. 1956 constitution was imposed arbitrarily wherein, negating all the arithmetic of the world, 54 percent population was made equal to 46 percent. Only after two years this ‘holy book’ was also buried thanks to the first of the many Martial Laws the country has seen. Designed to suit the whims and wishes of a general, the so-called constitution of 1962 was enforced only to be scrapped with the help of second Martial law. At this stage the most motivated and freedom-loving nation of the subcontinent, the Bengalis, decided that ‘enough is enough’ and an independent count ry of Bangladesh came into being.

On the other hand, a unilateral declaration of coining ‘New Pakistan’ was made without consulting the national units (Sindhis, Balochs and Pakhtoons) who had originated the ‘Old Pakistan’. In the new constitution (1973) of the new Pakistan, new promises were made though this was the most centripetal of all the constitutions through which all the rights of the federating units were usurped in the name of centre. No need to say that from day one the state of Pakistan has been dominated and monopolized by Punjab, so the 1973 constitution strengthened Punjab’s hold, in the name of centre, over the rights and resources of Sindh, Balochistan and Pakhtoonkhawa. Even this constitution was changed and altered, by civil and military dictators, as frequently as they would change the servants of their house. The biggest violation that comes in the range of a betrayal, committed during Pakistan’s life was when the very identity of the national units, to whom this country owes its existence, was erased in the name of national solidarity.

In short it can be said that the arbitrary, dictatorial and domineering mode of governance has rendered Sindh to the status of a colony and Pakistani has been turned into a colonial state, the way Britain ruled India.

All the natural resources and the sources of income of Sindh have been appropriated by the central government, every possible action is taken to wipe out Sindhi Language, culture and history, the process of bringing people from other provinces and other countries and settling them in Sindh to convert Sindhis into minority on their own soil and keep them in permanent subjugation is underway through state patronage in the same way as the occupying forces did in Palestine, Fiji, Northern Ireland and Western Sahara. And the most importantly Sindh’s political autonomy and the will & decisions of Sindhi people have been thrown in the mud. The status and standing of Sindh Assembly is lower even to that of the local council of a sovereign and democratic state and the laws and resolutions passé by this assembly have been thrown in dustbin like tissue paper by the little people sitting in the big houses of Islamabad. The Capital City Karachi has been made, for all prac tical purposes, a no-go-area for Sindhis. The writ aid control of Sindh government over the institutions based in Karachi is zero and in order to get education, employment and abode in Karachi, the indigenous people are made to seek certificate from those coming here as refugees.

An idea of the status of Sindh and the authority of Sindhi People in the state of Pakistan can be had from the statement of Sindh’s elected Chief Minister where-in he said that Sindh gives country 67% of the revenue but we have to beg from the central government for every small thing. On raising voice for the restitution of their rights sindhis were branded anti-state and anti-islam. Some rulers ridiculed their culture by declaring it as that of camel and donkey graziers, while others called them uneducated and ignorant.

This situation can only be described as nothing but colonialism and colonialism is neither acceptable nor bearable to sindhis in any case, at any cost. In fact for their national emancipation Sindhis have made great sacrifices and paid heavy prices and are ready and willing to do so again. During their 5000-year long history Sindh has been occupied many a time but sindhi people have never surrendered to the fate. We struggled against the British colonialism and servitude not for becoming subjugated by their lackeys. We don’t want to live as beggars and dependants. We are ready and willing to live with all the nations as equals and as partners.

On the other hand the state of Pakistan, owing to continuous breaking of promises and consistent violations of the (social) contracts, its arbitrary, dictatorial and domineering way of governance and its colonial character, has lost legal political and moral justification to rule over Sindh and sindhis. Now we are being ruled on the force of gun. Twenty first century is the century of peace, freedom and equality. Hence it is time to change the colonial structure of Pakistani state and end its imperialistic role-character.

Sindh is not an occupied territory. Sindh had opted to join Pakistan on the basis of 1940 Lahore Resolution, with its free will where-in it was unequivocally declared that Constituents Units shall be sovereign and autonomous. Sindh had decided to share its sovereignty with the neighbouring nations of the region in order to work jointly for peace, equality, progress and prosperity in Sindh, in Pakistan, in the region and in the world as whole. But the 62 years rule has resulted in war, terrorism, inequality, discrimination, domination, exploitation, poverty, beggary and national insult. Therefore, Sindhi People want to restitute and reestablish their sovereignty so that they can be able to decide their destiny with their free will. Jeay Sindh Mahaz considers it their foremost duty and historical responsibility to stand by Sindhi People in their struggle to achieve this goal. Hence Jeay Sindh Mahaz and its workers pledge to expend all their time, all their abilities, all their energies and all their resources to help Sindhi People get and use their universality recognized inalienable right of self determination.

At the same time we call upon the democratic and progressive people from Punjab to break their silence and strengthen our voice as in a Pakistan-like multinational country national question happens to be the prime question of democracy. Also we hope and expect that peace-loving, humanist, secular, progressive and enlightened people of the world would extend their political and moral support to our cause.

The case of the Swiss minarets
This week's ban on minarets in Switzerland, approved by 57 percent of voters, is a sign of the increasing influence of right wing parties in Switzerland's direct democracy - despite there being only four minarets in the entire country.

 The very name evokes images of almost heavenly beauty – idyllic enclaves of pristinely pure lakes surrounded by magnificent lush snow-peaked mountains, dotted with honeymoon-enticing chalets nestled within forests of pine furs towering to the skies. Beautiful, scenic Switzerland – it deserves its status as being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, and its cities are regularly ranked as being amongst the highest in terms of quality of life, in the entire world.

Of course, Switzerland does have a darker side. It has also established its reputation as being one of the most notorious financial centers for money laundering, especially for international drug dealers and mafia lords. Its unique secrecy rules in the banking industry allow even nonresidents to conduct business through offshore entities and intermediaries, providing an almost complete blanket of anonymity.

Apart from the notoriety of Swiss banks, the Swiss do have their own unique set of problems as well. A particularly troubling issue is the preponderance of alcoholics amongst Swiss youth. A survey conducted by a government agency revealed that almost 50 per cent of 13-year-olds in Switzerland had consumed alcohol in the month before the representative survey was made, and another survey revealed that 14 per cent of 13-year-olds get drunk at least once a month.

Switzerland also has one of the highest suicide rates per capita in the Western world (especially amongst young teenagers and the elderly), and a very serious drug problem. Not only is it a direct transit country for the export of cocaine, heroin, and other synthetics, it also has a healthy domestic cannabis cultivation, and one of the highest rates of drug offences in the world (a staggering 50% of the population – contrast this with America, which has an average almost ten times less than that of Switzerland).

It is, therefore, quite surprising that of all things bothering the Swiss, the last thing one would have imagined is the building of mosque minarets. Yet, this past weekend, a referendum was passed that expressly forbids the building of minarets. The referendum passed with a 57 % majority vote, and 22 out of 26 cantons (Swiss provinces) voted in favor of it. Over 55 % of the population voted in this referendum (to put this figure in perspective, that’s around 4.3 million voters).

One would expect, with such a large number of people voting, that the skylines of Zurich were perhaps being threatened with ominous minarets poking up at every street corner. Maybe the beauty of the chalets nestled in the Swiss alps was being marred with the presence of mosques suddenly appearing on the back of Swiss postcards. After all, for 4.3 million people to be motivated for an election, surely some huge quantity of minarets would have to exist.

It is, therefore, almost surreal to discover that in the entire country of Switzerland, there are a grand total of four minarets. Each of these minarets is found in a separate province altogether. Thus, 99.9 % of cities and towns across the country don’t even have a single minaret, and only four cities can boast one minaret each. That works out to about one minaret per four thousand square miles of Swiss soil (Muslims themselves are less than 5 % of the entire population in Switzerland).

So then, why all the fuss? The minaret-furor all began in 2005, when a small mosque in the almost unheard of municipality of Wangen bei Olten wished to construct a 6-meter minaret as part of the mosque structure. Local residents, quite clearly motivated by racist views, objected. Initially, the city council agreed, but over the course of the next few years, the mosque fought back through the legal system, eventually taking this issue up to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland, who sided with the mosque authorities and stated that building a minaret was within their legal rights. Therefore, in July of this year (2009), the mosque was finally built with the minaret in place.

However, in Switzerland, a ruling from the Supreme Court can still be challenged. Switzerland has a highly unusual form of democracy. It is characterized by an excessive degree of federalism and a gratuitous reliance on people referendums. The citizens themselves may directly appeal to revoke a federal or Supreme court law, and they may also directly petition the government to institute a law of their own. The Swiss system of direct democracy gives every member of the electorate the chance to wield influence. The federal constitutional initiative allows citizens to put a constitutional amendment to a national vote, provided that they can get 100,000 voters to sign the proposed amendment within eighteen months of its initial advertising.

Therefore, because of this minaret controversy, a number of right-wing conservative parties lobbied the people directly in order to achieve the hundred thousand signatories needed in order to institute this national referendum. One of the main advertising posters used to provoke the masses featured a silhouette of an ominous-looking woman in full niqab against a backdrop of seven black minarets shaped as missiles rising from a colorful Swiss-flag.

Unlike the ban on niqabs and hijabs in neighboring France, which at least attempts to portray the ban as being one on all religious symbols (hence Sikh turbans and Jewish yarmulkes are also technically included), the Swiss referendum was quite blatant in its selective targeting of Muslim mosques. The proposition, which will now be added into Article 72 (Section 3) of the Swiss Federal Constitution, reads: “The building of minarets is prohibited.†Notice, not ‘The building of overt religious public icons…’ or even ‘The building of symbols of non-Christian public houses of worship…,’ but rather, quite bluntly, ‘ The building of minarets…’

What makes this bad situation even more worrisome is the fact that such an overtly xenophobic and racist attitude finds so much support in an otherwise neutral country. If this vote had occurred in, say, Denmark, one would not be surprised, after the Danish cartoon controversies and the reaction in the Muslim world, to find a majority of Danes voting for such a referendum. But, of all places, Switzerland? Muslims worriedly and rightly ask: If these negative attitudes are so popular in Switzerland, what does that augur for other European countries?

Already, right-wing parties across Europe are salivating at the news of this ‘victory’. The leader of the radical-right Austrian Freedom Party, Heinz-Christian Strache, hailed the passage of the Swiss referendum and expressed his delight at the result, and his eagerness to emulate the Swiss example in his own country. Marine Le Pen, vice-president of France’s National Front, congratulated the Swiss for having demonstrated their attachment to their “national identity, their countryside and their cultureâ€, despite calls from the “elites†not to vote in favor of the ban. In Italy, Roberto Calderoli, Berlusconi’s Reform Minister, announced that a clear sign had come from Switzerland: “Yes to church towers, no to minarets†and said that Switzerland should be a model for Italy in this respect.

Perhaps this fear is exacerbated by Europe’s extremely low birth rate (in 2005, Switzerland ranked a miserable 177 out of 195 countries in the world, with an average of 9.6 births per 1000 people), coupled in recent decades with a rise of Muslim immigrants. Perhaps there is also an element of simple, old-fashioned racism against non-whites (however, in Switzerland, most Muslims immigrants are mainly from the former Yugoslavia and Turkey, and are thus white in skin color as well).

But these facts alone cannot explain such xenophobia. Ten years ago, it would have been impossible to even imagine such a referendum being given a shred of respectability, much less actually pass in a nation-wide vote. Rather, one must confront the stark reality that such extreme xenophobia, manifested in the alarmingly fast rise in popularity of all right-wing parties across Europe (and even America), occurs in the backdrop of 9/11 and the ‘War on Terror’.

Increasingly, Islam and Muslims are in the daily news, typically associated with acts of violence and terrorism. The average American and European, who has little interaction with Islam and Muslims, is feeling increasingly troubled by the presence of – as they perceive it – highly-volatile potential fifth-column ‘Islamists’ within their midst. In order to counteract whatever miniscule influence or presence these Muslims have (in most Western countries, Muslims do not even number 5 % of the population), Western nations are ever-eager to demolish the very civil liberties and freedoms that they themselves struggled for centuries to establish. As one right-wing pundit wrote in recent book, these liberties (according to him) were established by Christians to accommodate people from a similar religious and ethnic background – they were not meant to be applied to peoples from radically different ethnicities and religions than those that Europe has been accustomed to for the last five centuries.

In other words, these liberties are afforded only to the peoples of ‘civilized’ nations – those who have reached the pinnacle of humanity. Muslims, being somehow different and inherently inclined to terror, are simply inferior, uncivilized peoples, and hence do not warrant such liberties. ‘Giving them such liberties would mean the end of such liberties for us’ is the basic assumption. While few verbalize it so bluntly, it is in fact this sentiment that underlies such an attitude.

The real threat that ‘Moozlem terrorists’ pose to the West, therefore, is not in the survival of its physical lands, but in the survival of its own values and freedoms that it has struggled so long to secure. In an attempt to stem an alleged ‘Islamization’ of Europe that would supposedly endanger European values and liberties, Europe appears ready to discard those very values and liberties. In the name of protecting freedom, Europe is prepared to lose it. Even as they create the imaginary monster of the ‘Islamist’, they fail to look in the mirror and see the monster that is themselves.

How cherished and universal Western freedoms and values really are is a question that the West itself will have to answer. What happens to these values and freedoms in the next few years will be critical in the formulation of a new Western identity: one that will either be universal and inclusive, or selective and exclusive. And while Western Muslims would welcome being included in that identity, being so minuscule in number, they can only do so much to help in that conversation.
